Evidently, what you think of this hotel depends on what you want. I almost passed on this because of the fair to poor reviews, and I am so glad that I went with my gut and decided to stay here.
Let's start with the only negative. If you are driving, DO NOT go by google maps. They will send you to the wrong place. Go to the last roundabout, and instead of taking the first exit, take the third. Find the Esso station (even if you use google maps) and they will give you directions. However, if you find the Esso, the hotel will be right up the street on the left. You can barely see the hotel's sign from the Esso.
This hotel was exactly what was needed. It was one of the cheapest available, and much cheaper than the "western" hotels. The hotel is a bit dated, but that is part of its charm. It looks very Barbadian, and had a "native" air that was perfect. Hotel rooms have full kitchen, free wifi and American cable. It is also less than 50 yards/50 metres from the beach.
Some have complained about the traffic noise. Yes, the hotel is on a major route by the coast. If you decide not to rent a car, it seems that a bus goes by every 2-3 minutes. You're just a few miles from downtown Bridgetown, and not much farther from the shopping at Holetown.
You could definitely do worse than this hotel. I'm not sure I could have done better than finding this hidden gem.
