Cedar Nook is a charming farm cottage with panoramic mountain views. Observe cattle on pasture, watch crop harvest in season, or just relax inside or on the porch. A grove of cedar trees give privacy from the nearby road, but you can hear traffic - especially the farm trucks and tractors as they go by. The cottage is 6 miles from Interstate 81, and 5 miles from Bridgewater, a college town featuring many services and supplies plus fine parks.
Wide doorways and a ramp from the parking area to the porch make the downstairs wheelchair friendly. The first floor is approved as a residence and the upstairs is approved by zoning regulations for storage.

Charming quiet getaway
We had a lovely and peaceful stay at the Cedar Nook cottage, while we prepared and raced in the Shenandoah 100k mountain bike race. Ferne was great and all of the amenities provided were appreciated and enjoyed! The place was clean and extremely quiet and restful!

Lovely farm setting cottage with warm hospitality
This cottage had beautiful views all around us of the mountains as we set nestled in the valley. The host was extremely hospitable and provided so many things above and beyond for our pleasure during our stay. We enjoyed a nice fire with provided hot dogs and smores, plus corn hole to play. The cottage was clean and perfect space for us to relax. It was also within a close distance of many places to visit and explore!

Excellent stay all around.
This was an excellent stay all around. The location was beautiful, the lodging was very comfortable, and the hosts were lovely. The one thing that stood out most to me is how very thoughtful the hosts have been in setting up the cottage - with plenty of minute details throughout the house that really add charm and warmth to the place. It feels that the hosts take real pride in this and it really shows. Frankly - this was one of the best places I have stayed in a very long time. Hopefully we will do it again soon!

My overall experience with this property was amazing. David and Ferne were truly polite and made the check in process really easy. They gave us helpful directions to the property, showed us around and gave us information about nearby attractions and activities. They gave us spectacular views of mountains and farm land. The property itself was so nice, well kept, and just overall soothing. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to get away in the mountain/country area. Would come back again.

Absolutely Delightful Country Cottage!
What an amazing find for a weekend trip to central VA. David and Ferne were accommodating, caring, and a joy to meet. Everything was perfect upon arrival and our gracious hosts were very helpful throughout our stay. This charming cottage was probably the cleanest home we have ever rented and was as described – a great location, peaceful, panoramic mountain views, and amenities to spare. The kitchen was stocked with treats, the medicine cabinets had several necessities, and an unexpected nicety was the small fire our hosts had started for us in the outside pit. There were several extra special touches that made our stay that much better. Upstairs is a little small/short, but it simply adds to the uniqueness of this cottage. We will definitely return, and I would recommend it to others looking for a peaceful place to stay.

A few things people should be aware of before booking this place:
The upstairs is extremely tight and narrow. Anyone over 5’5” will have a hard time navigating around. So yes the downstairs is wheel chair accessible but all the bedrooms are upstairs. So if you’re a larger individual (taller than 5’5” and over 160 lbs) or a disabled person that wants to sleep in a bed, this house isn’t for you. The bed felt like it was going to break if we moved too quickly. My husband and I both are around 130 lbs and it sounded like it was gong to break at any moment from any movement. I don’t think the bed would sustain anyone heavier than us (Apparently this will be fixed soon though) The Wi-Fi is SUPER shoddy and it honestly shouldn’t even be listed as an amenity. We weren’t able to connect/ stay connected at all the entire time. My phone needs Wi-Fi to even check the weather so having that is kind of important. We ended up having to shack up with the hosts for our final night because the pipes froze over in the cabin BUT other than that, scenic view was gorgeous and Ferne and David were sweet and accommodating. There’s lots of fun things to do in the area as well
