Ideal all round!
A lovely stop over to visit friends on our way to Devon. The food is amazing. Everyone found something they really enjoyed and with complex food preferences that is really good going. The rooms are ideal for dog owners and our little Bobby made plenty of friends. Breakfast was also brilliant and kept us going all day.

This place is a little gem. Staff were excellent and friendly. As we have read in previous comments many staff are young but they are all friendly and helpful. They are obviously learning well and we had no issues. The young lad who takes the breakfast order always greeted us with a smile and nothing was a problem. Food at the Malt shovel is absolutely amazing and extremely good value for money. We would have loved to stay longer just to have worked our way through the menu. Excellent quality and would definitely recommend eating there. Our room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend to others. Next time we can take our dog knowing they are dog friendly too 🙂

Good Hotel.
Nice hotel with plenty of parking, WIFI ok, Rooms clean and tidy, could do with darker curtains as let light through a lot, got to be careful of bar area as small roof and beams. Food was really good Mixed Grill on night was excellent and breakfast all so good. only issue when booking it said free breakfast and it wasn't and had to pay £8 but worth it just badly advertised on Hotel.com website.

Just a 1 night stay on the way to Cornwall. Great location as the village has lots of little pubs and restaurants too. Staff at the malt were helpful and the rooms are basic but good value for money with breakfast included.

The Malt Shovel Inn, is so clean and the staff are so obliging and friendly, nothing was too much bother. What more can I say about the food, all home cooked and the portion are large, when I say large I mean large, apart from breakfast the dinners were too much to eat. Absolute value for money, they are first on my list to book next time I have to go visiting family.

Beautiful place, amazing food. Very clean
Beautiful place run by a really friendly team. They've done an amazing job renovating the pub. Although the rooms are still to be done they were really clean, comfortable and had everything you need Amazing food and menu. Awesome full english breakfast included Best of all for bikers there is a good sized hard standing car park with no gravel, and security cameras set up. So bikes and cars are very secure I would thoroughly recommend staying here and we will definitely stay here again when in this part of the country

Very good place to stay
Very nice stay over. Comfortable and clean rooms and nice bar restaurant area. Very good breakfast but evening meals were prepped then reheated. I think the menu is too large for the size of the establishment. This is constructive criticism.
