a weekend away to Dorset/Cornwell. The hotel is very modern and pleasant with all amenities. Decent breakfast. The room was well designed but doesnt have aircon, and was a little warm for the summer (does have a fan though). Pretty surrounding areas. WIll likely visit again
On the beautiful grounds of Buckfast Abbey, the Northgate Hotel is a welcoming oasis. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I’d go back in an instant!
The property was covered in unsightly scaffolding. The outside area was unkempt, tables not wiped down, unemptied ashtrays. The Receptionist wasn’t friendly. I know the check-in is 4pm, we got to the property at 2.45, and despite the place being deserted, she would not check un in until 4. That’s just pedantic.
This was perfect for me visiting family in Ashburton. It was easy to find and park. The staff were lovely and helpful when I checked in. It helped take the stress out of the logistics. They were also very accommodating when I had to change the dates initially.
