Beautiful little cottage
Overall impression was very good. All accommodations were in-place and we recommend this cottage to anyone. I would recommend that the host provide a binder with local area attractions and restaurants.

Lovely cottage
The cottage is just what I expected. Simple, lovely, cozy and had what we needed. Nancy is great at communicating and very responsive. The cottage is old, as described, and holds character. The window ac units were adequate for keeping everyone cool and comfortable. The entire property is absolutely beautiful.

Peaceful retreat in the countryside
This is a very unique, historic property in the quiet country atmosphere of Buckingham County - but also close to some historic sites and beautiful natural areas. The host, Nancy, is very friendly and welcoming. When we found we were short a few kitchen items, she very promptly made them available. The VRBO cottage, attached to the larger historic bed and breakfast, affords its own special privacy and atmosphere. The grounds, with tables for eating outside, slope down to an inviting gazebo. We really enjoyed our stay.

wonderful old buildiing. lacking many amenities that would be nice.
This is the 'cottage' attached to an older elegant house. The main house is lovely - very much the oldest, nicest house in town. The cottage is a remnant from another time - big beams in the ceiling, wide boards on the floor.. I have minor complaints - mostly the owner cannot solve. First it was very dark and the lamps were very dim. While it gave the place a warmth, I wished for more light during the day and night- the windows were small - from another era. Here are the things the owner could solve. The wifi didn't work in the cottage, and other renters. staying in the main house, had to sit in the kitchen to log onto the wifi. Second, there was a strong potpourri smell that caused a strong allertgic reaction in my partner. Third, wihile the rooms were It was mostly very clean, there were hairs left in the shower from the prior renter, Finally, the window air conditioners were loud.

The host was very kind and thoughtful. Though I had trouble cooking in the cottage oven, she offered to let me use the main house kitchen which worked out great! The cottage is very cozy, and the surrounding grounds are lovely.

very nice place; would definitely come back
We had a really nice time and enjoyed the cottage very much; it was just the right size for the two of us. In pretty good condition for an 1815 building, although beetles get in the door easily so wear socks. Nancy was lovely and helpful and we definitely plan on returning. Loved the historic setting. Only other notes: 1. The oven runs REALLY hot. Our frozen pizza became a charcoal disk when cooked at the prescribed temp; we had to cook everything else on the "warm" setting because it seems to run about 200 degrees hotter than it should 2. Based on the photos, the property looks like it's in a secluded rural area. It's actually on a main road and RIGHT next to the courthouse, so a lot less privacy than expected. But the road is quiet and there is a little area to walk/sit at tables behind the house. 3. Poor wifi/cell service in the smaller cottage (main house fine). Not necessarily a bad thing, just be aware in case you were expecting to get work done.

Perfect quiet retreat
The cottage and grounds are cozy and picturesque. The bed is crisp & very comfortable with wonderful light during the day. Nancy was a wonderful host: quick & clear communication, completely contact free during this strange time, but attentive to making sure I had everything I needed. The internet & phone connections are very inconsistent, but she was up front about that, and it worked just fine for the solitude I was looking for, just something to be aware of. Kitchen has the basics for what I needed, but would be a bit challenging if you plan to do a lot of cooking. Overall highly recommend & looking forward to my next stay!

Quiet Rustic Unit
My wife and I needed to get out of DC for a socially-distanced getaway and even though it was fairly last minute we were able to get this cottage at a really good price. It's very quiet and there was very little activity around> There are other homes and buildings around,a s well as a functioning courthouse/police station, but I didn't feel like anyone was "on top" of us, and there was plenty of room to roam around the grounds. I am a semi-pro photographer, so there was a pond to shoot, and if it hadn't rained all weekend, I'm sure some decent astrophotography could be done in the large back-yard area. There is wifi, but I found it very spotty at best. You need to go up in the Trundle bedroom to really be able to connect to it, and sometimes it would still cut out. No biggie, I was looking to cut the cord for the weekend anyway, but if that's important to you, you should take note. Finally, and this is very important to me, I've been to a LOT of VRBO's that promised the beds were soft, but turned out to be bald-faced liars. Your mileage may vary, but IU found the beds here soft as promised and quite comfortable. I slept in both beds so I could stream music to sleep one night as I am an insomiac. Nancy the owner/property manager was very pleasant to deal with, and she let me know everything I needed to know before we arrived. Overall, it was a nice stay and I would come back again.

Meeting old friends
Everything was perfect. We were looking for a quiet place near FarmVille, to connect with my mothers life long friend. My mom had just passed, and because of COVID-19, the three of us would not be able to attend her memorial in Delaware. On our way in we stopped at a mom and pop produce stand that worked on the honor system! The kitchen was perfect for me to make a veggie dinner, including fresh corn and green beans. Sunday morning we had coffee with a doe and her triplets, several bunnies, and the birds serenading us. Close enough to Crabtree Falls, we headed out for a morning excursion, enjoying the winding roads with the top down on the car. The falls were absolutely beautiful! Back for a shower and nap in the comfy queen size bed, before our guest came for dinner. Nancy’s, the owner, recommendation of Pino’s for dinner was excellent. The downstairs was perfect, large enough for us to gather, but intimate and homey to be comfortable. There is a second bedroom, perfect if traveling with children, although the stairs with small children may be tricky, and definitely not handicap accessible. I look forward to going back, exploring other waterfalls and historical sites when COVID-19 permits. I really appreciated the contactless during this visit, but would love to sit with Nancy and hear the history of the property in the future!

Charming guest house
We enjoyed our stay very much and the owners were very easy to communicate with during our visit. The house was nicely furnished, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had the property to ourselves and we thoroughly enjoyed walking the farm and taking our drinks to gazebo after a day of excursions. We have a few things to point out. The cable TV was not working. After we made our booking the owner did call to explain that is was not hooked up because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The WiFi connection in the house was weak. We found the living area a bit dark at night. We suggest better lighting which would have made it easier to read at night. Finally, the kitchen lacked some of the essentials including a toaster, good kitchen knife, cutting board and strainer or colander. Again, we enjoyed our stay and the surrounding area. The owners were very nice and easy to talk with. With some minor changes I am sure that the guest house will exceed anyone's expectations.

Charming cottage stay
We had a lovely time at this cottage in a rural Virginia town. A short drive away from a full-size grocery store allowed us to get everything we needed to have an isolated/socially distance 4th of July. The space was very comfortable and a great size for a couple or a small family. We enjoyed the garden and gazebo area and just relaxing in the quiet. Nearby a lot of wineries and parks. Great stay!

A Cozy and comfortable Stay
Our family was very happy with the accommodations and the gracious assistance of our hostess, Nancy, to make sure we were comfortable. Three members of our family stayed here while attending an event in the area and we were able to easily and cozily welcome other visiting family into the cottage for a small reception afterwards. We were all at ease in the lovely surroundings both inside and outside the cottage. A very refreshing stay and one we would be willing to repeat. Thank you Nancy.
