Family visit
Location was secluded, quick access to the causeway which we enjoyed. Power went out our last night, but it wasn't long before it came back on. The quiet was blissful!! Thank you!

Beautiful and comfortable property and home
The home is filled with very nice personal and thoughtful decor. We very much enjoyed our stay and appreciate the cleanliness and warmth that the owners have taken time to fill the inside with. This is a great place for a stay in the Burlington area.

What a wonderful setting to get away from it all yet be close to everything you could possibly need or want. This little cottage is an embrace as you are drawn into its warmth.

Quick get away
Overall, the stay was great! We swam in the lake across the street, rode our bikes on the Colchester Causeway, and along the Burlington Bikepath to a quiet beach. The house was clean and welcoming. Thank you!

Overall ok, but some challenges
The property I think is as described and the location by the causeway is pretty fantastic, that is the big draw. Being able to walk/ride out to the causeway is excellent. Little things though marred the experience for me. Tiny coffee machine that is a little broken (top falls off, often into cup as you pour) - very cheap and can only make 2 cups. No coffee filters provided. Toaster is tiny, cheap and a bit hard to use. There is no established path so you are just trotting about 50 yards across a field and muddy patches. The parking up on the grass also is less than ideal. Also the lack of shampoo and conditioner was a tad frustrating. The left about 1/2 of what you needed. Still I did like many of the little touches of the home, neat little wall pieces.

Close to the causeway on Lake Champlain
Cabin-like rental across the street from the lake and a 2-3 minute's walk to the causeway. Bed is comfortable, and there is a nice deck out front and there are kayaks, which we not able to use, but it's a nice feature. A few caveats: if you have mobility issues, you might want to avoid this place because you have to walk on grass a fair stretch to get from the driveway. The bathroom is not that private: the ceiling is completely open. There were also a lot of mosquitos.

Another Lovely Stay!
Our second stay at Baxter's Hideaway was just as wonderful as the first. Albert is very responsive. The property very clean and well-equipped. The proximity to the bike trail is great. With beautiful weather we meandered along Church Street Marketplace in Burlington each night (highly recommend!). If you want to eat dinner in Burlington we recommend making reservations well in advance. We will definitely return again next fall!

June weekend
Unfortunately, it rained all weekend and we weren’t able to take advantage of the great location close to the lake and causeway. Hope to come back another time when the weather is more cooperative so we can bike and kayak.

Location is worth it!
This is very eclectic, interesting little place. It was adequately furnished with everything you'd need in the kitchen, including ice trays to make ice. Being so close to the causeway was the best!! We did lots of walks and fishing and exploring over there - that made this worth it. Our only issue was there is only one window unit AC for the entire house. When we walked in at check-in the house was 89 degrees as no one had turned on the window unit. We were able to get it down to a comfortable level by the next day. Just be sure to check the weather before your stay!

Fantastic Stay - Highly Recommend!
Baxter's Hideaway was absolutely wonderful. Communication was excellent - quick and helpful. The proximity to the Island Line Trail was unmatched - we were able to hop on our bicycles without driving anywhere. The accommodations were better than the pictures, and like other reviews, we found so many things to look at - so much care and detail all around. The shower was good. The beds were comfortable. We didn't cook, but it had everything we'd have needed if we did. We enjoyed reading the guest book. We are very much looking forward to a return trip!

relaxing stay in a great spot
This is an A+ property in a fantastic location. Communication with the owner/manager was very clear, the house was very comfortable (great mattress, high quality sheets and pillows, excellent water pressure, plenty of seating), and the proximity to the Colchester Causeway made for some fantastic walks.

Luxurious Hideway
The location was very restful, set back from the road with a lovely very private yard surrounded w trees that whispered in the breezes off the lake The interior was so pretty, had all been recently renovated with lovely choices of wood paneling and floors, and had the most exquisitely elegant decor, unusual for a Vermont Camp but very welcome; I felt like a princess. One could simply sit and look around the room and be pleased with the artwork and choice of fabrics and furnishings. Also had the big screen and choices of networks for my viewing pleasure. My daytime guests were equally enchanted by Baxter's ( Albert's) Hideway... and every day we would discover new treasures in his collections. Also being a water lover, I was glad he had a kayak to take paddling. Had a lovely trip around the point and also out the Causeway a bit. And also waded out for a refreshing swim in the cool waters of Lake Champlain. Made it a completly perfect vacation spot. It was very difficult to leave!!

Arty, Kitchy, Fun and Restful
Elizabeth and I really had a lovely time. The house was warm and welcoming, and had an endearing, quirky feel. The location was ideal, with Lake Champlain a stone's throw away. We rested, made delicious dinners, sampled the local cuisine (Leunig's!!!), kayaked, strolled, and took daily bicycle rides. The house was comfy (mostly) and we enjoyed the variety of visual stimuli that comprised the decorations and furnishings of the property. There are a few "suggestions" to share, but those will be done privately. It's hard to imagine not having a restful vacation here.
