The Old Schoolhouse, New Quay is located in the heart of the Burren, just a 10 minute walk from the Flaggy Shore, overlooking Galway Bay. The school house is steeped in history dating back to 1870, when the local children attended classes here. The property has been restored over time to ensure that the old Irish charm has been kept, retaining original features and introducing modern finishes.
The Old Schoolhouse is the ideal location to stay for trips to the world famous Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands, Galway city; the heart of culture and festivals in Ireland, or just to relax at Linnane's Bar and take in the beach and ocean views of the Flaggy Shore, made famous by Seamus Heaney's poem, Postscript. The Burren is well known for it's unique flora & fauna making the area a fantastic spot to join the many national walking paths that cross the limestone paving, taking in breathtaking mountain and sea views. Staying at The Old Schoolhouse gives the perfect opportunity to access a wide range of outdoor activities; swimming, fishing, climbing, horse-riding, surfing, SUP, scuba; to name but a few.
The house has a large open plan living room with high ceilings, log burner and large family dining table. The ideal space to light the fire, sit back and read a book, play cards or to take in the wonderful history of the property. The family have always used The Old Schoolhouse as an escape from the modern world and have consciously not installed Wi-Fi to allow for complete digital detox. Jigsaw's, boardgames and a DVD library are on hand in the games cupboard. A blue-tooth speaker is provided for your favourite sounds. The kitchen area is fully equipped with a range oven, American style fridge & freezer and central island. There are 2 bedrooms, one spacious double room and a second bedroom with a double bed and bunk-beds, with space for 6 guests to stay.
