Based in a working micro brewery a very different place. Friendly and welcoming and no sticky tables!
We stayed there on a hot day and the bedroom was extremely hot at night. Tap was loose in the sink.
Really nice place. Room was very comfortable, not flash, but perfect for our needs with a good en-suite. Breakfast was great and the bar and outside courtyard area were very pleasant to have a drink and spend time. Would recommend.
We were newcomers to Bury St Edmunds & chose The Old Cannon Brewery hotel as it was very close to the town centre or so we thought. Although with good mobility it shouldn't take more than 7mins into town it was still further away than we expected. Another issue was parking as there was only free parking outside the hotel from 4pm-10am. We were aware of this before we arrived however the nearest carpark was nearly 10mins walk away. Not a problem if you have good mobility but we would have chosen a hotel with free parking had we known. All that aside, we had a good room, not large but well equipped, clean & a comfortable bed. We ate on the 2 nights & the food was good & the staff very helpful. The pub has a good atmosphere, good beer & overall was adequate for our needs.
Great staff lovely breakfast but noisy until the pub closes but really quiet after that until staff arrive at 7ish to start breakfast.Location is good only a very short walk to town centre.Parking can be a real issue no blue badge spaces nearby on street parking but very busy when we were there & had to park a few streets away.On street parking is limited to 1-2 hours between 10am-6pm Mon-Sat so a bit of an issue for us.As my husband is disabled staff did offer for us to open the courtyard gates ourselves & park in there if we were struggling but we didn't want to wake up other guests when we returned from a local wedding as they are heavy & noisy & right under the guest rooms.
There was everything we needed in our room and was the perfect location for our evening out in Bury st edmunds, walkable short distance.
Breakfast was lovely. I will be staying here again. Lovely welcome from the owner.
Comfortable room which was a good size. It was clear that they had also thought through the finishing touches - a small coffee machine and also a good selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate; good quality toiletries in the shower room. Breakfast was generous and delicious! Also, to note, there is a restaurant on site but you are close enough to the town centre to venture further afield if you so wish.
