We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in this lovely cottage, the view from the front of the cottage was amazing, (just a suggestion but a few sun loungers would be great here!). Very quiet and secluded and if you like privacy this is the place for you. The kitchen had everything we needed and well appointed. Beds were comfy and we lit the fire as some nights were chilly. If you like swimming, going to the beach and walking, this is the ideal location. A short walk brings you to Westcove Pier where you can swim at full tide. A 15 minute drive brings you to the stunning Derrynane beach with its white sand and aquamarine water (when the sun shines!!) And after a long day on the beach, just up from the carpark at Derrynane is Keatings Bar where you can enjoy a pint and a toasted lamb sandwich or a Pizza. Also about a 5 minute drive from the house is White Strand, another lovely beach.
The Kerry Way is on your doorstep with lots of amazing walks, one of which is the Pilgrim Walk, which starts at Derrynane Pier and goes to Bealtra Pier and ends up in the car park of the famous Derrynane House, which was the home of Daniel O'Connell. Staigue Fort is also well worth seeing. Best places for pub grub is O'Sheas in Sneem and the Blind Piper in Caherdaniel and Kenmare is well worth a visit, there is a market there on a Wednesday and lots of nice places to eat and nice shops. Also the Village Bakery in Sneem do amazing homemade toasties, sandwiches, pies, scones, pastries etc and is open for breakfast and lunch and the coffee is very good.
A car is essential but a fabulous location to relax and unwind.
