Charming cottage in beautiful setting

This tiny cottage offered a cozy retreat for two of us at the end of long days touring around the Galway area. The beds were comfy, the evenings in front of the fire were great and the modern kitchen offered everything we needed. I wouldn’t recommend the cottage for any more than two adults and maybe a young child though. Although 30 minutes away from Galway, the drive to and from was through narrow lanes and was an adventure. Across the road at the main estate we watched horses in the pasture, and we were surrounded by really beautiful trees. If you’re looking to be in the midst of activity with walkable pubs, this wouldn't be your place. Make sure to do a day trip to the Cliffs of Mohr and take the Doolin ferry ride to see them from the sea. Finola was a very responsive host, making sure we were comfortable.

Charming cottage

We loved this cottage! It was so charming and cozy. One day of our stay was rainy and we were very happy to just stay in and cozy up with a book and fire.

Lovely quiet spot. Beautifully prepared and perfect for a quiet week.

The space is exactly as described with a newer kitchen. It is a little further for points of interest we wanted but it forced us to visit some areas that we would not have otherwise done. Connemara is with easy reach but it is a full day trip out to Clifdon and the Atlantic Way so plan accordingly. Galway is 30 minutes. Cliffs Mohar 90 mins each way so we came back to Dublin via the cliffs and Limerick. We would recommend this location. The host was always quick to respond to messages and very helpful. Five Stars easily.

Fantastic stay!

I cannot say enough after the Gate Lodge and Finola! The home was quaint and a lovely setting in the rolling hills of Ireland. The kitchen was modern and spacious. We loved the wood stove in the living room! Everything was clean and well-kept. Finola was fantastic to work and communicate with! A perfect spot!

Great little country cottage

My daughter and I were on a short tour of Ireland and wanted something more “old Ireland” like this traditional yet very updated cottage. The place was perfect. It has new furniture, good beds and a brand new kitchen. We enjoyed walking in the evening on the quiet little lane of the cottage strolling past fields of sheep etc. We will be back.

Gate Lodge ~ A piece of heaven!

This little cottage was just what we pictured an Irish cottage to be like. Delightful from the second we entered through the old half door. The weather outside was stormy but the lodge was toasty warm and inviting. The surroundings were picturesque! Which we could have stayed longer.

Our Stay at Caherlistrane

We loved the cottage and the amenities. Fiona was wonderful. This would be a perfect location for short or extended get away, but is a little farther out of Galway than we expected. Finding our way home in the dark on the narrow unlit roads was a little challenging.

Absolutely loved the small cottage

Although a little off the beaten path, I loved it. 24 year olds, not that much. Cozy, quiet and comfortable. Had problems with washing machine but was offered free wash and dry at big house. Evelyn, housekeeper?, was wonderful and a delight. The only thing I would encourage would be instructions on how certain things function, i.e., washing machine, heat and hot water instructions. U.S. machinery is completely different on how they are operated and usually don't have to operate heat and water. Also, would recommend a new and additional frying pan. But, as stated, lovely place for relaxation. Would definitely go again just to relax and enjoy the charm. Loved loved loved it.
