On arrival, owner was hospitable and helped to carry suitcase upstairs. Tried to contact hotel several times to explain we would be late, no answer. The stairs are very, very steep and up two flights to our small room. (This would not be suitable for elderly or people with difficulty walking). Informed the TV was not working, and owner said it is not my fault. Informed the sauna was fully booked for the night, no apologies. Would have been nice to be offered a cup of tea as no facilities in room to make one, and cafe 10 -20 minutes walk. Breakfast poor, ok if you like bread. No meats or even a boiled egg. Asked for green tea and english tea, given darjeeling. One large table for all guests to sit around, no privacy. For the price I would have expected more, stayed at much cheaper hotels which offer more than this. No free toiletries or tea or coffee in room, nor was coffee offered at breakfast only tea. As it was the Christmas period not even a chocolate on the pillow. Would not stay again, building inside is elegant but sometimes that is not enough.
