You can expect a very special ambience and a green oasis in the garden. For relaxed days on the beach, playing golf and paragliding, hiking and cycling, exploring Portuguese sights or simply recharging your batteries - welcome to Casa Charmosa.
Enjoy the security and tranquility in the small village of Salir do Porto or let yourself be carried away by the hustle and bustle in Sao Martinho do Porto. Both places are connected by wooden walkways along the bay. The path leads through a beautiful dune landscape that is under nature protection.
Our natural stone house has been completely renovated, modernized and refurbished with great attention to detail. We carefully integrated the original building layout and existing natural stone walls into the design in order to largely preserve the character and charm of the former fisherman's house. Modernity meets tradition, old values meet new ideas. The beautiful hillside location in peaceful surroundings, the close footpath to the beach and Sao Martinho do Porto, the view of the bay and the hinterland make your vacation home a true oasis. The winding plot offers space for privacy and the sandy beach and the unique dune landscape are at your feet.
SPACING YOUR HOLIDAY HOME
Welcome to Casa Charmosa - walk in and feel good! Your eyes will be magically drawn to the wall in front of you, completely glazed with sliding doors. The small exterior view of the house is suddenly forgotten when entering. The unobstructed view of the bay and the direct open access to the main terrace connect the inside and outside very well. The open living area on the ground floor offers everything your heart desires. A well-equipped kitchen with a free-standing kitchen island, a cozy seating area with design classics and an antique wooden table, the leather lounger for relaxing and a window sill with a seat cushion on which the soul can relax. An open fireplace and central heating provide cozy warmth in cool temperatures.
A free-floating staircase takes you to the converted attic, which in addition to a large double bed also offers additional sleeping space. With a desk, reading armchair and TV, this room offers much more than a restful, peaceful sleep. The adjoining balcony is wonderful for the first coffee or tea in the morning and offers an unrestricted view of the dune landscape, the bay, Sao Martinho and the hinterland. So the day can start!
From the living area on the ground floor you can step through a glass door to our small but elegant bathroom. An open shower, sink and toilet can be found here in a small but tasteful space. Stone steps lead directly into the secluded courtyard, framed by natural stone walls. If you want to get to know outdoor showering, you will find it here. An outdoor shower with hot water and fresh morning air or to cool off in the evening - a dream.
A small, sheltered seat and a separate barbecue area with an open, brick grill and a stone bench with a seating area can also be found in the cozy courtyard.
Just around the corner you can reach our separate extension, the former bakery of the house. The original quarter circle of the floor plan was retained, only the room was enlarged and of course completely renovated from the floor to the roof. As for the main house, the old clay tiles were used again for the extension and placed on the new roof structure. The interior in the extension consists almost exclusively of brick furniture and individual pieces made of steel and wood. A French bed, a small sitting area, a chest of drawers for clothes and small items, as well as a TV make the room more than comfortable. The sliding glass door leads directly to the olive tree in the courtyard and lets in the sun.
THE ENVIRONMENT
Secluded and yet very close to all the options that make a vacation pleasant and varied. The shell-shaped bathing bay with a surrounding beach can be reached on foot in 10 minutes. The daily market, cafes and the hustle and bustle in Sao Martinho do Porto are reached after a 20 minute walk through the dune landscape. Extensive hikes over never-ending coastal and field paths, bike tours to the neighboring towns and cities, kilometers of sandy beaches or culture in the strongholds of the Portuguese past - the location of our holiday home offers everything your heart desires. Let yourself be infected by Portugal's silver coast!
SANDY BEACHES
The popular natural bay is right in front of the house. The lively beaches in summer offer bathing fun for the whole family - even the little ones can splash around in the gentle waves to their hearts' content.
A 10 km long coastal road with a fantastic view goes from Salir do Porto to Foz do Arelho. For surfers and paragliders, but also for families from young to old, you can enjoy wonderful, uncomplicated beach life here. In the warm water of the adjacent lagoon you can swim carefree without high waves and relax in the surrounding bars and cafés.
On one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the country, the Rua da Pescaria, you will reach the extensive Praia do Salgado after around 5 km from Sao Martinho, which offers a charming view of Nazaré. The kilometer-long sandy beach, where there is always a lonely place even in the summer months, is just as popular with Lisbon holidaymakers as it is with tourists from all over the world who love something special. If you like it close to the city, Praia da Nazaré, located directly on the waterfront, is also available for bathing fun and a cool drink in one of the beach bars.
CULTURE AND COLORFUL DRIVING
Salir do Porto, the little pretty 'sister' of Sao Martinho do Porto, is a still quite original village where you can experience Portuguese life from the hustle and bustle. Don't be alarmed when bakers and fishermen honk their fresh goods in the morning and drive through the village. Shopping can be so easy! But village life is otherwise active and lively: Small cafes and restaurants, a corner shop for everyday needs, the Asia bar with great live concerts, the Miradouro, a lookout point high above the village, starting point for wonderful hiking and Bike tours, a ruin with a source of fresh water, the huge dune for climbing and romping and and and - Salir do Porto, small but very big!
In Sao Martinho do Porto you can stroll, stop at the Rua dos Cafés and eat well in one of the many restaurants. The daily market offers everything fresh and cheap for your own meals. A large supermarket on the outskirts is perfect for bulk shopping. Use the elevator to the upper town, which brings you closer to the original charm of the place.
The preserved and well-kept medieval town of Obidós can be reached in around 20 minutes by car and is always worth a trip. Secluded bars, fado chants and the hustle and bustle along the many small streets will enchant you.
Directly after Praia do Salgado, Nazaré stretches into an upper and lower town, right on the cliff slope. The Moroccan architecture, fishermen in black traditional costumes, numerous shops, narrow streets and sociable places, from which you can experience the sunset in the evening, contribute to a real holiday feeling.
Experience pure culture in Alcobaca, whose monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A visit to the unique church and crusader castle of Tomar takes you to the formerly important center of the Templars. Coimbra as the oldest university city in Portugal, Lisbon with its seven hills or the place of pilgrimage Fátima - all this and much more is practically on your doorstep.
