Enjoyable stay
Stayed overnight as attending a wedding nearby. Arrived early and had a very tasty lunch on the cafe terrace. Service was good and food was delicious. We then took a walk around the grounds which was very tranquil and because the weather was glorious we walked up to the small chapel and feed the ducks. Rooms were clean and had everything you need - iron, ironing board, safe, tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was delicious and hot and plenty of choice. All staff were polite and welcoming. The only grumble I do have is that the shower was very pitiful - the water dribbled out which isn’t much good. If there is a function going on in the hall then the music and guests can disturb your sleep if you are wanting to retire to your room early. We will definitely return and recommend the place.

A charming old building, set in a beautiful landscape. It was wonderful to be able to experience such an old place and be free to wander the garden and grounds.

Fabulous stay and enjoyed everything.
My wife and I stayed overnight and found the hotel to be fantastic. The gardens are amazing and worth the time to walk around it. Breakfast was first class.

Good but perfunctory
Very easy, but on the slightly more basic side. Room and breakfast were everything that was needed, but also very perfunctory. The grounds were excellent, I just wish the weather had been nicer to spend time outside in it.

Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Friendly staff and a good buffet breakfast. Rooms are basic en suite but clean. A little bit utilitarian in appearance and no frills. The bed was comfortable and tea & coffee facilities are provided. Good parking onsite. I would definitely stay again when in the area.

I love this place!
I like Maddingley Hall. It’s a beautiful old country house now part of the University and has lovely grounds. The rooms are a bit Spartan as they are basically student bedsits but all the essentials are there, and my room was made up each day which a lot of hotels don’t do list Covid! Lovely dining room for breakfast. Dinner was bar meals - limited menu but good value and tasty, which is more than I can say for the supper I had at Bella Italian inn Cambridge which was distinctly indifferent and cost a lot more! Ok, not a luxury hotel but I don’t like paying for A lot of facilities I am not going to use. I had free parking in a safe and secure car park, free WiFi which worked well and a shower bathroom which suits me perfectly. Friendly staff, a good bar and I did not have to take out a mortgage to get a large glass of wine. The Uni run a lot of courses there as part of the continuing education offering and if I have time I would love to do a course there as the place has a nice atmosphere.

Needed to be cleaned better.
Hall was lovely and stunning from outside with easy access and plenty of parking. Check in was quick despite the queue. Room was easy to find although quite a few steps to contend with, and the door numbers were faded Room was very basic and although the bedding was clean, there were hairs in the shower and the remote control was filthy, with ingrained dirt around the buttons. Felt it's never been cleaned. The valance sheet also looked stained like it's not been removed and washed. Top quilt sheets for clean. Size was ok for a single, had everything needed including a large wardrobe. Breakfast was very pleasant good quality and plenty to help yourself to.
