I honestly hate leaving bad reviews, but sometimes it has to be done. First the room. It smelled so badly, like chemicals and very strong. We made a complaint and was told it's too late to move to another room. That's fine, but then nothing was done to remedy that. Second, the shower was not working and when we tried to make a call to the front desk and the phone was not working either. That was fixed, only for the shower to again not work when we tried to use it again (the top half was not working). We made due with the bottom half of it. Lastly that pool bar. The odor that comes from there is toxic. You could not sit at the bar without it engulfing you. I will say though that the staff was amazing. That is probably the only reason i would give the resort a few stars. This was my first and last stay at the Riu Las Americas.

We throughly enjoyed our stay and the staff was very attentive. Even though we did not attend the parties or pool activities, the staff really tried to make everything positive. My only complain really was the cleanliness. We found a cockroach in our bathroom and did notice that at times there were some things that weren’t cleaned up in our room. We did have one rude interaction with a staff member at dinner but everyone else was very polite.

This place is amazing!!! The rooms are outdated but who cares? They are well maintained and are tip top clean. Some more modern hotel are shnasty. The pools are great. The programs were awesome. The food was plentiful. Their staff is so friendly and accommodating. I will definitely come back to experience this hotel. 5 starts from me!!!

Besides the fact I’ve reserved the hotel with enough time in advance and notify the staff that I was giving a surprise to my wife because our 10 anniversary we were moved due to overbooking. Then they promised an “upgrade” if we accept the move and that wasn’t true. In Riu Palace Peninsula the staff was great, specially Perla at the desk. They did everything posible to fix the uncomfortable situation created at Riu Plaza Las Americas.

We loved it here, the staff was super friendly and were always checking in. Transportation to the parties was super convenient (for the younger crowd) and there were plenty of activities at the resort. We already plan to go back.

Ríu las palace americas was a great resort overall. The property overlooks an infinity pool that overlooks the beach. The beach water is the same color as the pool and the sand is soft. It was absolutely a magical beach spot. The staff at Riu are always friendly and ready to answer any questions best service. They made our stay special because they were available 24/7. The room we stayed in was cleaned thoroughly and our maid Carolina went the extra mile to ensure we had plenty of towels, and amenities such as robes and toiletries. Our room overlooked the extraordinary beach and pool view so every morning we took our coffee with that amazing view. Now the only negative aspect is the food quality. I would not have super high expectations but that is typical of any all inclusive resort, however they had fresh coffee 24/7 and fantastic selection of fresh fruit. The buffet was overwhelming with options but ultimately if you stick with the basics food groups you should be fine. I would not be too adventurous with the food options. I also appreciated that there was always fresh water bottles available. Also, a cool thing is at the beach you can order drinks although the drinks are too sweet for my taste but it was a nice touch. Overall, I’m extremely happy with my choice the hotel is close to the mall and restaurants if you Uber outside. Extremely safe. It is cleaned daily and frequently. Definitely I am coming back again and staying at this riu next year.

Love everything about this resort! The best one I have ever been at. I love how convenient everything is located. I am older and love how you can go from two of the pools right to the beach and is close. The beach there is calm and easy to get into and out of. Was a clean beach also. The services there were very helpful and eager to help you. So So nice Will be back to this one.

Upon check in, no complimentary drink offered as advertised. Front desk personal rude and use language barrier as reasons not to help. My wife and several other guest we spoke to got food poisoning and the hotel personal did not care. After the illness was reported to Alex, the night manager, he said he would check the food and contact us about compensation. Not sure how you check what was on the buffet in the afternoon versus the evening when the illness was reported. The night manager, Alex could care less about the guests. When we asked to talk with him most employees said they didn’t know who you were talking about until after you became more persistent. We were told he wouldn’t be in until 11:00 pm when we questioned why he never got back to us, The following morning we were told he was off that day. When we questioned it again the desk clerk just smiled and shrugged as if he didn’t understand. Notice paint peeling on building and some areas in need of repair. The elevators are small and only fit about six people tightly packed and one was not working for 3 of our 4 days. Some hotel employees such as the dining staff were very nice and helpful but their management teams definitely need work.
