It’s close to the charming town of Stellenbosch, and has lovely gardens. The rooms upstairs are small and somewhat dark due to the thatch, but they are good value and are in the main house which dates from the 1700’s. There’s no access to indoors common areas in the house though. No pool but great play area for kids! The cafe is darling tho outside so it’s best to come Dec til end March!
We stayed in a family cottage. It was ok compare to other rooms but price is the same. Other rooms much bigger and nicer decorated with fire place. Our cottage was very basic

Lovely stay here, so kid friendly! Staff and service excellent. Very relaxed and beautiful location and great food.
Will definitely recommend to stay here
After a hectic business trip of 3 weeks, I had the opportunity to spend some time at Weltevreden, before the last week of my trip. The food was great, service excellent, bed comfortable and the shower hot. Just excellent!
Wonderful hidden gem in Stellenbosch area. Beautiful estate with cute and comfortable rooms, good food and wonderful surroundings. Good location for wine tastings!
It is such a beautiful estate and the staff is very friendly, especially Leigh!
The restaurant caters for various events from kiddies parties to weddings!
The room has a romantic setting with a comfy bed.
The Cloetewill rooms are perfect for a group of friends or family as it has a communal section for drinks.
The furnishings are great and the best breakfast, hands down. The grounds are quite lovely. The staff are pleasant. FYI, you are staying in an attic. Thinking cobwebs and bugs, yes there are some. The worm thing in the shower was too much. The hot water is inconsistent. After traveling you just want a nice hot shower. Small garbage bin may or may not get emptied and our matching toothbrushes were moved to be right next to each other. No actual bathroom. Just a screen to separate. Do you move it to shower? You really get to know one another here. You are staying in a thatched roof, allergy sufferers beware. These noted items made for some discomfort, or maybe just a good story to tell. It is a unique experience. Just know before you go. You may just love it.
My husband and I stayed at Weltevreden Estate for two nights while attending a wedding of a friend nearby. The staff are wonderful, so attentive and really friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful as was our room and adjoining lobby area. Breakfast was great. The estate is right in the middle of several wonderful wine estates and within a 5 minute drive from beautiful Stellenbosch. Our only problem was finding the place. We arrived after dark and couldn't find the road in the dark. The guard office of the housing estate next door claimed never to have heard of the estate so on that first night we had to go find alternative accommodation as the estate was not answering their phone. Completely our own fault for not letting them know we would arrive late but still upsetting at the time. Once we contacted them in the morning and found the place though our next two nights were lovely!!
Super cosy place with great atmosphere and the nicest staff! We enjoyed the food, wine and amazing location. The room was lovely, clean and very comfy bed. I would also recommend to book the picnic they offer. Will definetly come back!
Staff was amazing, property is beautiful however, the toilet is inside the bedroom with a little divider, this should be made more clear on the site as this is not something every couple is comfortable with.
Beautiful estate, fab room, good breakfast. Unfortunately lack of reception area/staff around during our 3 day stay but has huge potential as its an amazing place.
The welcome and check-in was great. Literally, nothing beyond a big smile and a "let me help you". No paperwork, no documents to be signed. Nothing. The room was very comfortable although, being in an attic, beware your head.
