Very good

Staff refused to add my IHG awards number to the reservation, they claimed that they've never done it and it wasn't available in the reservation. The area is under reconstruccion, so the hotel is very difficult to access, the parking is a real nightmare to find
A good old style hotel with lots of character right in the centre of Carlisle. Easy access to the castle and cathedral and the shopping area of Carlisle. Unfortunately there was considerable reconstruction work on the square in front of the hotel, but not a fault with the hotel, just took away a bit of the atmosphere of Carlisle. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The bed could use an upgrade, but staff were kind and attentive. Property is clean, charming details and the food was wonderful.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Traditional hotel, a bit tired but made up by the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately major works being carried out outside of the hotel restricting vehilce access.
Older, Victorian-type hotel.
Even though the car park is right behind the hotel, it can’t be accessed directly, only be by making a big circle through the city center. We literally went around in circles for about one hour, since Carlisle is an old city and the street plan is complicated. This may be temporary due to a street closure in front of the hotel, and probably the hotel can’t do anything about it, but wished we had come by train instead of car.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Average stay, below average breakfast
The hotel is tired in some places, work has been done on one part of the hotel to refurbish the rooms, which i would describe as a light touch up as fixtures, fittings and thr shower is still dated. Hotel room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.
The main issue is around the breakfast booking through hotels.com you have to pay 22.50 for it even if the room is for one person. However on the day the breakfast can be brought for 10.50. The breakfast is not the best very average.
You have to walk through the hotel, out the back door, through the car park next to the dumpsters to get to the room.
Worn carpet, missing carpet, dirty carpet, curtains, woodwork with mars and large pieces missing, sheet with stains on them, lamp shades coming apart, hole in the wall and so on.

Don’t bank on using the EV charger
Booked as listed with EV charging.
On arrival was told the car park was full and had to pay to park in a local public car park.

Difficult to locate with road construction in the front of the hotel.
Good location in the centre of town, hotel building was nice and our room was very comfortable and clean. We were in the annexe, which was a bit noisy from lorries early in the morning, and some odd noises from the plumbing, but overall a good stay.
The hotel room was clean and spacious, the bath and shower were clean but the bathroom was a little dated. The breakfast in the morning was nice and the staff kept it topped up however the service was a little slow and if you asked for something it was a while before the staff would come back to you with it, EG milk. The “continental” breakfast was next to nothing bar some options for cereals and one or two pastries. I wouldn’t let it put me off tho as the location of the hotel was ideal and it was quiet during the night. The bells on the Sunday morning were horrendous tho they went on far too long but I realise this is out with the control of the hotel.
