Trullo del Salento is largely as described by others. It is set in beautiful gardens with a large area filled with fruit, nut and vegetables. Antonio, the father, comes twice daily to water the plants and grass and clean the pool. He is very nice and attentive and, although has no English, we had fun conversing with him. We were kindly given fruit and eggs and invited to pick the strawberries that grew near the house.
The Trullo itself is small but the bed is comfortable and the bathroom is large enough and is clean. It would have been nice to have had somewhere to hang my clothes, only two coat hangers are available and there is nowhere to hang them. During our stay, over 10 days, the toilet started to smell horribly.
The outside kitchen is also clean and there is a hob, fridge with a small freezer compartment and a good washing machine. The main problem with the kitchen is the shocking lack of kitchen utensils and crockery. There are two pans and a battered frying pan, though I was given another small one once I'd pointed this out. We had a metal spatula, which was the only cooking utensil! We had no large plates, only 2 cups, 3 forks, 2 knives, and no wine glasses, sharp chopping or cutting knife, chopping board, serving spoons, cheese grater or microwave. The outside oven isn't workable and we weren't offered a barbecue. We have never stayed in a place with such bad equipment. It needs to be much, much better stocked. There also isn't a bicycle as advertised.
The pool is beautiful and is one of the highlights of the place. We had lovely days sitting around the pool and cooling off during the hot days. It is very well tended and spotlessly clean. There are lights at night, which is lovely and atmospheric. The whole site feels very secure, with electric gates and evening lighting.
We met Vincenzo who is very friendly and, though speaks very little English, made us feel very welcome. We met many of his family and friends, who came on the Saturday and Sundays on both the weekends we were there. This was an aspect we found very surprising. We hadn't understood we would be sharing the space and pool with others. Each Sunday around 10 people were around. The last Saturday evening we were kept awake into the early hours by Vincenzo and his friends, which was surprisingly inconsiderate.
We really wanted a private space. We feel very strongly that the details need to be changed, to make it clear it is a shared area and pool.
