Green Shutters is a two bedroom gite in the village of Labarrere, Gers. It is situated in the heart of the Armagnac district.
Originally converted from part of a barn, as accommodation for elderly relatives it has now been totally up graded and refurbished by the present owners. It comprises of two double bedrooms one with double bed and one with two single which will make a large double if required, lounge, kitchen diner, shower room and separate cloakroom with hand basin.
Bedroom one. Large room with vaulted ceiling; It has twin beds, which can be made up to a large double on request. Wardrobe with a small enclosed safe, chest of drawers/dressing table and bedside cabinets.
Bedroom two. A delightful room with a double bed, marble washstand/dressing table, and large French Armoire and bedside cabinets.
Lounge. A generous sized room with two leather arm chairs, small settee and additional seating. The room is equipped with DVD player with flat smart screen, radio/ cd/ iPod player, Oval table. There is a door leading to an outside terrace.
Kitchen diner. Fitted with a range of IKEA units, stainless steel sink, four burner gas hob, combination oven (micro, grill & oven), generously equipped with cooking and eating utensils, fridge freezer, dining table and chairs. Stairs leading to bedrooms, double doors to outside terrace.
Cloakroom; fully tiled with toilet and hand basin.
Shower room; fully tiled has an enclosed shower cubicle with thermostatic taps, vanity unit with two drawers, mirror with adjacent shaver point, top loading washing machine.
There is shared access to the owners heated indoor swimming pool. Which is exclusively for the Gite guests from10.00 to 18.00 daily.
The village of Labarrere is small. The village is surrounded by fields of vines and sunflowers. The area is suitable for cycling, rambling and exploring. Secure storage can be provided for bikes and equipment.
It is close to the bastide village of Montreal du Gers, with the Roman villa remains of Seviac. The nearby town of Eauze has supermarkets and a wonderful general market on Thursday mornings. Not far away is the town of Condom, the capital of Armagnac. It is on the river Baise where boat trips are available. It has a market on Wednesday mornings and a small food market on Sunday mornings . Also close by is the ‘round’ bastide village of Fources, they hold a renowned flower market here in the spring.
Within easy reach is Auch, the capital city of the Gers and home of D'artagnan (three musketeers). There are many stunning views from within the city. Glimpses of the Pyrenees mountains on very clear days. Further afield trips can be made to Agen, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Pau and Carcassonne. It is even possible to do a day trip to the principality of ANDORRA.
