DESCRIPTION of our HOUSE of CHAMBONAS
The house is built on 3 superimposed levels.
At the level of the courtyard (see map in PJ or photos 23 and 24) the old carriage house (ceiling 4 m!) has been converted into a large room (which we call the dormitory photo 4) with a rustic look and is equipped with 7 single beds, a full bathroom, dining table, sink and refrigerator. This room is very popular with young people to sleep together and also adults for its freshness by great heat. Next to this is a storeroom with washing machine.
These 2 rooms open on the same level on a courtyard covered with vaults and closed by a gate (photos 2). The opposite corner of the annex is occupied by the grand stone staircase (photo 4 and 5) which leads to the level 1 terrace.
At level 1, (shots in PJ or photos 23 and 24) the large living room (photos 7, 8, 9), the kitchen and a small room (photo 10) open on the ground floor on the terrace above the vaults. This beautiful old terrace (50 m² photos 10 and 11), is equipped with outdoor furniture for 15 people. It is the center of the life of the household, very pleasant and very frequented, the sun in the morning, half-shade from noon. We enjoy the view of the nearby castle, children play, we take meals. With a good night lighting it spends beautiful evenings (presupposing to lower her voice after 23 hours to meet the usual calm of the village). If the weather is bad (rare) the outdoor furniture can be returned to the living room which becomes a dining room.
The outdoor furniture consists mainly of 3 rectangular tables of the same dimensions, made of good quality plastic. When they entered the living room, these tables are placed end to end in alignment to easily accommodate 15 guests.
The adjacent kitchen has a thick oak table where you can install 6 guests (see plans) and a high chair.
At level 2, three beautiful bedrooms (photos 14, 15, 16, and 17) with complete sanitary in each except No. 2 which has only a sink and a bucket hygienic for the night. An extra child bed is available in each of bedrooms 2 and 3.
Note the height of the ceilings (3 m.)
In summary sleeping places:
At the courtyard level the annex has 7 single beds.
Level 1 and 2 have 10 beds (including 1 bunk bed in room 1 and 1 mobile folding bed), plus 2 children's beds.
Extra mattresses are available upstairs
The house is large, it can easily accommodate 15 people and more, but you must ensure, by printing the attached plans that everyone will find a bed that suits him. Thank you for paying attention to this point.
Notes:
The house is not equipped with Wi-Fi. We use ourselves a key 4G Orange
Duvets and blankets are available but not linen. In particular, you must bring two sheets or sleeping bag per occupied bed and pillowcases. However, we have disposable sheets and pillow cases made of thin synthetic material that is not very comfortable (4 euros per bed).
Cleaning: the cleaning service is a priori not proposed, it is to be done by the tenant. However, if the person who is in charge of the household and who makes the departure visit with you, considers that it is "left to do", it assesses the amount that will be deducted from your refundable deposit. This amount can go up to 100 € maximum because the house is large.
Heating is provided by a pellet stove in the large living room. This powerful stove heats all parts of the house including the floor. The pellets are available on the spot and are offered at a price of 4 € for a 15 kg bag. The annex does not have heating. For this reason it is only commonly used from April to November. In cold weather young people can sleep there thanks to extra blankets available. They can also sleep upstairs where extra mattresses are available to keep up to 15 people sleeping capacity in the house
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me by phone, or email. Thank you

The environment :
Click "location" on the HomeAway ad. You will see the castle at the end of the garden "à la française" and the communal road that leads to the deep water swimming (150 m) located between two rapids (fun and safe) Chassezac. The Chassezac keeps a good flow in summer (one practices the canoe there) and its wide and shaded banks are conducive to the games and pick-nick. The departure of the canoes-kayaks (rented) for the descent of the gorges is near the house.
The village of Chambonas is at the foot of the Ardèche mountains (See the map: Monts d'Ardèche, Didier Richard edition, or less detailed, the Michelin map). Several small roads rise to 1000 m. altitude by wild valleys, torrents and rivers: Thine, Sure, Chassezac, Borne, Beaume and Drobie, .... ancient villages, springs. These walks are on foot, by car or ... with donkey carrier!
It is the mountain and yet it is the South ... the olive trees and the song of the cicadas!
