About this property

Village Centre Location Traditional Farm Manor House w Hot Tub

Village centre location, and the oldest house in the village, the site has been occupied since Roman times. Perfectly secluded from the hustle and bustle of Bourton on the Water, within it's own private walled garden (with gated access to the Monarch's Way footpath).

Full of character and styled to stimulate the imagination and evoke a timeless taste of real life in the heart of the English countryside. With the inclusion of mullioned windows, oak panelling as well as four magnificent fireplaces this Grade II listed gem is one of the most evocative places to stay in the village. Bourton on the Water, known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, boasts a wealth of attractions including a famous model village, motor museum, perfumery and bird sanctuary, plus a host of pubs, restaurants and shops. However the undisputed jewel is the river Windrush, which flows through the centre of the village, flanked by the village green, and crossed by no less than five stone bridges. The village is well served with a post office, two supermarkets including the Coop flagship all within minutes walk of the house. Riding is available at a local stable at one end of the village, and there are extensive fishing lakes at the other. Please note that due to the age of the property we advise against stays for elderly guests or those with mobility issues.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Great Potential
What an amazing house this is, with it's original and quirky features it is a place that could be truly amazingThe owner was very nice, friendly and attentiveHowever, the cleanliness e.g. dusting and hoovering need to be much betterThere was also issues with damp and mould in some areas which would be easily fixed with additional ventilationThe main issue for me though was the security, unfortunately the back door in to the utility room did not shut and or lock at all, having kids with us this was a worry and we had to block the doors for piece of mindThe location is perfect and only a 2 minute walk to the front of Bourton on the Water

Great location and wonderful old house
Had a great time in this historic home in Bourton on the Water. Exposed oak beams, huge old fireplaces are terrific. Location is as good as it gets.

Great location in beautiful village. Cluttered home
There was a 4 pm check in. Property was not ready and we came back at 4.45 p.m. Rooms had cobwebs. Mouse in the dining room and big fireplaces blew out smoke when lit although we followed the directions. Firewood was for sale and not provided. Bathroom broke. Sofa in the main living room was old and sunk down so we could not use. "Gym" was a few pieces of equipment outside under a carport type structure and was covered by tarp as was the outside furniture. Toilet broke and owner tried to fix but it was not done properly and the elderly members of the group left to stay in a hotel. There was no working TV. It was supposed to be a family reunion but it was a disaster. Thankfully the weather was good and we could be outside in the village.
