La Cale - waterfront property

This waterfront appartment has been completly redone in January 2021 from the bottom up. Situated in the center of Cheticamp, you will be walking distance to the ocean, wharfs, whalecruises, shops, bars and restaurants. It has everything you will need for you stay along the Cabot Trail. The back deck has a great view of the ocean, lobster boats seagulls ans sunsets. A 10 minute drive North to the National Park and south to a sandy beach. Ideal vacation location!

The apartment was perfect: beautifully decorated, fully equipped, comfortable beds, delicious coffee, and close to everything. The host shared several tips on places to eat and things to do. If traveling through the area again, I’d definitely stay with JS again.

La Cale was a great stay! The house was sparkling clean and beautiful. Everything you could have needed was thought of. Extra towels, linens, coffee, tea, and kitchen items. Stephanie and Joleen had many great suggestions of places to visit and eat. 5 minutes from the Cape Breton National highlands park for full days of hiking and great views. Great communication answered messages quickly. Street is a bit noisy however being right on the marina is lovely.

Well stocked and well located
For 2 couples travelling together, the accommodation was excellent. We appreciated the well stocked cupboards and access to the Park and the community. The only problem I had was with communication through VRBO when I tried to ‘reply’ to messages. We would stay again.

Exactly what we wanted
The apartment is comfortable, well appointed and in a great location for exploring the Cheticamp and Western Cabot Trail areas.The supermarket is two minutes away for buying provisions and Cheticamp itself has great restaurants and coffee shops. We certainly enjoyed our stay.

Great location to drive in and out of Cape Breton Highlands NP but also be close to restaurants, grocery, shops. Perfect kitchen to cook meals in. Nice view of the marina and pretty sunsets. Clean. East arrival and departure. Perfect size for our group of 3

We stayed for one night with my family, the property is right off the main road (Cabot trail). There is some traffic noise but it did not bother us. The rooms and beds were comfy. Kitchen is stocked with basic supplies if you want to heat up/ make something. We only stayed one night and did not need to use the kitchen. There are a few restaurants nearby as well as a Coop where we picked up some essentials for our road trip. There are laundry facilities with detergent provided. Bathroom was clean and had shampoo and conditioner, but was out of soap/ bodywash. It was not an issue for me as I was carrying some. One unusual thing in the bathroom was the window curtain did not go all the way down and only covered 3/4th of the window. Since this window faces the bay, it was weird to not have full privacy. We just hung up a towel over the window, so it was not a this major concern. A few hooks to hang towels/ clothes in the bathroom would also have be useful. The zodiac whale watching cruise is located right next door and was super convenient as we had booked this excursion. Parking is available next to the property. There is a short boardwalk next to the property, where you can stroll and watch the boats and the sunset. Overall the location of the property is great and it is excellent value for your money for a few nights stay in Cheticamp. A few minor additions/ changes would enhance the experience.

No Communication
There was no communication with the host. We received an automated message regarding house rules, I responded with a question on how to check in, never got a response. We got to the property around 10pm, there was nothing there, the only way we were able to get in was knocking on the door of the neighbor who was nice enough to share her experience and help us. I messaged the host twice after and never received a response. The front bedroom got a lot of street noise and the second bedroom was next to the bathroom so it was loud in the morning. Would not recommend.

Apartment had a modern, clean, European feel. Located within walking distance to a winery, across the street from The Church Brewery views of beautiful sunsets on the Bay of Fundy. Beautiful walking trail behind the apartment. A few hours from Peggy’s Cove and Lunenberg.
