this hotel was perfect for me and my partner. the hotel is in the perfect location to all the great attractions in Chicago. the hotel is very cool, modern and clean. the rooms are small so if there are two of you don't expect a lot of room. I would definitely book this hotel again. the staff are all amazing. And the price is right!

Wonderful hotel to stay in! Loved the decor and the room design. Great lobby and terrace spaces. The gym was amazing too. Comfortable bed: a firmer mattress with both soft and firm pillows. When choosing your room window view, I would recommend checking in early to choose the best room view before they’re taken. After check out, the hotel let me leave my luggage so I could explore the city for some hours before my flight. My main issue was the staff and their lack of professionalism. After a shift change for the night, the new team prioritized socializing amongst themselves at check in or around the bar. It made me feel uncomfortable as if I was interrupting their hang out when I had to ask a question. They commented when they saw me exit the elevator again that night as they were gathered around the bar together. That deterred me from exiting the elevator to buy a snack and I immediately went back up to my room, feeling infantilized by the staff and as if I was not welcome or allowed to be on the lobby floor. Also, beware that the room fridges don’t work. The staff said that all room fridges are kept at a cool but not cold temperature because they are under the sink since the room sizes are small. The staff did say I can hand them my leftovers and they can store them in a fridge in the kitchen, but I declined. The iPad that controlled all of the room features (AC, curtains, TV, lights, etc) was a little glitchy at times, but overall super impressive and fun!

Great ambiance and perfect sized room for the city. Great location with walking distance to many attractions and transportation. The rooms were really cool with how they functioned and the main lobby area was a great place to hang out and do some work.

I WILL NEVER STAY IN A citizen M AGAIN!!
This is a total scam - it is NOT a 4 star hotel, more like a 1.5 or 2 star at most. They are marketing this as 'DYI" but it is nonsense and a way for the company to save money (which of course does NOT translate into lower prices) - you have to check yourself in, make your own room key, the room is truly a shoebox, literally half the size of a college dorm room, and everything is plastic though they claim to be 'ecofriendly.' to top it all - EVERYTHING, from room lights to the TV to blinds works through an app you have to download. And, the app works poorly, in fact it had no way to turn off the TV! Maybe if you are a phone addicted Gen Z person, this is the place for you. For anyone who actually wants the comfort of staying in a real hotel as opposed to a glorified 21st century hostel, DO NOT STAY HERE! Oh, and by the way the person working at the front desk condescendingly said she would help me with check in if I needed it while she talked with someone on the phone. Should I continue...the valet person smoking in front of the hotel? I could just keep going, you get the idea - this is a scam fronting as some high tech reinvention of a hotel. Total crap. Enjoy.
