The beds were comfortable. The smoke detector needed servicing and the maintenance person attended to it promptly. The placement of the toilet paper dispenser was inconvenient. The heat didn't work in one of the rooms but a space heater remedied the situation. Our view of the side of the building was not inspirational.

It's close to many of the downtown attractions. You can walk anywhere or hop on a train very easily.

The positives are great location & comfortable beds. The negatives are no Internet, no internet/smart device enabled tv, paper thin walls where you can hear everything even a pop can open in the next person’s hotel room, only a sheet & coverlet on the bed (no blanket), terrible room service (employee said they wanted to go home early, so they were closings room service for the night), the hallways on my floor had old stained carpet & a section of damaged stained & curled up wallpaper. The worst of all was upon check in our room had what appears to be a few drops of blood on the light switch & bathroom door as well as our”clean” bath mat (I’m hoping it was something else).

This was my 4th stay at this property this summer. The 3 previous were Excellent. This stay had a couple of minor issues: ice machine on 14th floor did not exist and staff did NOT not know this. It was a minor inconvenience to have to go to the 12th floor for ice. Issue was compounded by one elevator being out of service. The other 3 elevators did a good job getting people up and down.

Much lower than my expectation in view of the price. The hotel has passed its old glory. When I arrived, the toilet did not flush, the door could not lock and the safe did not work. Rusty bathroom. It is not ideal for business traveller.

Pretty poor experience. The AC didn't work well and the room had a moldy chemical smell. Bathroom amenities were cheap. This place gets by on location alone as the actual facilities are definitely lacking.

The inside of the hotel is very nice. The staff was super friendly. My room did not look like a regular hotel room. It felt like I was at home at a regular room at my house. It had cute bedding, a cute vanity/furniture, a nice chair, big closet, wall decor, and nice flooring. The restroom was clean. Everything was perfect, but I did not like that it took about 15 minutes for the hot water to arrive in my shower.

Me and a friend stayed there for a concert at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Overall? Very happy with it. The architecture was interesting on the inside, beds were fairly comfortable, and..the view~ Spent the first few minutes just enjoying that. Staff was also friendly and helpfull The only issue, is that our room was on the 14th floor, so the water had to run for 6-8m before a hot shower could be enjoyed. A minor issue at most though

The hotel may have been beautiful and look like the pictures at one point but that is no longer the case. The room light in the hallway malfunction during our stay. The carpet had stains and there was only one outlet besides de one in the bathroom.

Nice architecture (from the outside). The Congress bar was lovely. And the food (from the hotel's restaurant) was better than just edible and reasonably-priced (for Chicago). There was a shortage of draft beer, however. Worse negatives: it took a long time to get hot water, and water T was hard to control (at the sink or the tub), tub did not drain, and the deep glass shelf just above the sink was a head-banging hazard. No control over room temperature, so I was quite cold at night (in the summer).

Only there for one night. Great location downtown. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room had been updated but it was in whites, purple and turquoise which didn't fit with the feel of the actual hotel. Tried to look modern but felt a little cheap. The hallways were very dingy leading to the rooms. Old wallpaper and carpeting. The hotel downstairs had a beautiful old world feel and clean and neat. Once out of the main hotel it felt much tattier. We were on the 6th floor and I took a cold shower. Just as I was finishing, about 10 minutes in, the water started to warm up. Talk about a waste of water and not eco-friendly! Good job it was summer or I would have frozen! Otherwise, all was good. Comfy bed with firm mattress.
