This is a very old property which is part of it's charm. Water pressure in the shower was very limited. Accomodations are simple. Really liked new vinyl flooring in room with throw rug. Much better than carpeting. I will return.

Love staying at the Congress. convenient to places. Some areas do show age, but it is expected for such a historic hotel. Bathrooms have been nicely redone. Rates reasonable for location.

Ice machines! This was an issue here all summer long. I pointed it out to management over the summer but the issue has gone from bad to worse. Supposedly, there are ice machines on even floors. This visit, housekeeping directed me to the machine on the 4th floor as the only working ice machine. I suggest that as a minimum, correct the signs on all floors that do not have operable ice machines.

The beds were comfortable. The smoke detector needed servicing and the maintenance person attended to it promptly. The placement of the toilet paper dispenser was inconvenient. The heat didn't work in one of the rooms but a space heater remedied the situation. Our view of the side of the building was not inspirational.

Ice machine on the floor was a bit messed up. Star was exact and helpful. Building is beautiful and the rooms were nice. Parking was excellent. Bed was a little hard. Would stay here again and recommend.

Spooky room!
The room we were was hot and the AC couldn’t be turned on. A fan was brought to the room. There was a l it of running and screaming in the hallway for a couple of hours. The TV reception was staticky. Honestly, the room was a bit spooky.

Comfortable layover
We were there for a short overnight stay during a flight layover. This is an older building with only central AC, so we could not adjust the AC. Our room was warm. The hotel provided a fan. Front desk staff was welcoming, efficient, and accommodating. We had a room with a nice view of Lake Michigan and Grant Park with the beautiful fountain. The beds were comfortable.

Rusty stain in the sink. We were extremely scared when a man cleaning our window harnessed on ropes was hanging on our window @ 10 am with no warning! Called for breakfast room service @ 10:40 am that served until 11, but was informed that breakfast was over. In room safe would not lock. Unbelievable that no one contacted us with changes!

Great location for this lovely old hotel. Room temperature control is primitive. We had to ask for a space heater. Housekeeping staff was surly and neglectful. Good room rates and overall experience. .
