This is a very old property which is part of it's charm. Water pressure in the shower was very limited. Accomodations are simple. Really liked new vinyl flooring in room with throw rug. Much better than carpeting. I will return.

Love staying at the Congress. convenient to places. Some areas do show age, but it is expected for such a historic hotel. Bathrooms have been nicely redone. Rates reasonable for location.

Ice machines! This was an issue here all summer long. I pointed it out to management over the summer but the issue has gone from bad to worse. Supposedly, there are ice machines on even floors. This visit, housekeeping directed me to the machine on the 4th floor as the only working ice machine. I suggest that as a minimum, correct the signs on all floors that do not have operable ice machines.

The beds were comfortable. The smoke detector needed servicing and the maintenance person attended to it promptly. The placement of the toilet paper dispenser was inconvenient. The heat didn't work in one of the rooms but a space heater remedied the situation. Our view of the side of the building was not inspirational.

The positives are great location & comfortable beds. The negatives are no Internet, no internet/smart device enabled tv, paper thin walls where you can hear everything even a pop can open in the next person’s hotel room, only a sheet & coverlet on the bed (no blanket), terrible room service (employee said they wanted to go home early, so they were closings room service for the night), the hallways on my floor had old stained carpet & a section of damaged stained & curled up wallpaper. The worst of all was upon check in our room had what appears to be a few drops of blood on the light switch & bathroom door as well as our”clean” bath mat (I’m hoping it was something else).

Would definitely stay again. BUT, the room basically had a fan unit. These rooms do not have proper AC. We stayed in two different rooms, both the same fan only unit. It never got "hot", but it's wasn't cool enough. Probably low 70s. However, the hotel is old but updated. So they kept the more historic stylings and looks but updated it. Lots of character. We had a tower room for the first night, whis is a tower apartment. Aside from the air situation, it was fantastic. As said, would stay again.

Very old building. Not friendly front desk. Housekeeping came knocking on our door at 9 am (2 full hours before check out time) so loudly it sounded like the feds. Hard beds and poor shower pressure. Not hotel’s fault but train noise by south tower made it impossible to rest during the day.
