Wonderful corner room with plenty of space. Room could have been cleaner as there were candy wrappers and hair ties on the floor. The staff were outstanding. So thoughtful, helpful and kind. Highly recommend.

Exceptionally lovely art deco inspired hotel in Jewelers Row District. Convenient to nearly everything downtown. Attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous staff. Surprisingly affordable! Many room amenities and free perks.

The Silversmith is a "historic" hotel inside the Chicago loop. While Wabash street is not quite "the magnificent mile", the building is nice and our room was spacious, the king bed large and comfortable, and there was a separate "living room"-like area with a couch and a coffee table. Some of the missing items you would expect from a top hotel were a desk (rather than a coffee table), where one could get some work done, and more convenient towel hangers in the bathroom (instead of the one above the toilet). The cleaning was spotty - when we checked in we found a dirty towel on the floor under a sofa and an empty water bottle behind the dresser. Also, on the one day we asked for room cleaning (i.e. did not put out the "Do not disturb" sign), we left in the morning and returned at 5 pm and the room was not yet cleaned (eventually it was cleaned). But the biggest issue for me was the Loop railway, with the train running literally outside your window every 5-10 minutes, 24/7. I would say that the windows were very well insulated and kept the noise down (in our 5th floor room) to a distant rumble. The noise did not prevent me from falling asleep in the evening, but if I woke up in the middle of the night or early morning, it made it difficult for me to fall back asleep. This may not bother other people, which is maybe why this is not listed in most of the online reviews of this hotel as an issue - indeed, my spouse was not bothered by it. But I would not be a return guest here.
