About this property
Po' del Vento 1 Unique experience between Tuscany and Umbria Pool, Pet-Friendly!
Situated between Umbria and Tuscany, between Rome and Florence, just 18 km from the motorway, perched on a hill overlooking the Valdichiana: from Acquapendente in Lazio to Città della Pieve in Umbria, to Cortona in Tuscany; from Lake Trasimeno in Umbria to Lake Chiusi in Tuscany lies this simple and comfortable late 19th century hunting lodge, surrounded by 310 hectares of olive groves and woods, with views over the Val di Chiana and the surrounding villages and hills: Città della Pieve, Montepulciano, Chiusi Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, Closed Lake. A few minutes from Paciano and Moiano.
Typical Tuscan house made of stone and wood, simple furnishings, Po' del Vento 1: (8-9 people) is on the first floor through about 11 steps you reach a covered loggia and from here the main door to the dining room with a large pouff sofa and a fireplace the corridor leads to the kitchen with the table for the 1st breakfast, 4 bedrooms (2 doubles, one twin or double with a second single bed, another double with a breathtaking view. ), 2 small bathrooms with shower; large 60 m2 partially covered terrace and large outdoor dining and relaxation area.
The fenced and heated swimming pool is close to the house, as well as table football, table tennis, a playground with two swings, a slide, a tunnel, a sandpit, a swing and a children's playhouse.
The heated hot tub for 6 persons, bocce court and children's playground are 400 metres away. A fitness trail in the forest with 11 pieces of equipment and more than 20 exercises, 1 km long, starts 300 m away; a fish pond is 1.5 km away, another pond with a table for 8 people for a picnic is about 700 m away; shared facilities, of course.
A light breeze cools the days and brings night temperatures to 20° and 24°C in summer, while winter is mild because there is never fog: an ideal microclimate.
There is air conditioning, independent heating, and fans for the milder seasons,
WIFI. Barbecue, mosquito nets
On the estate we have many species of wild animals: foxes, roe deer, hedgehogs, porcupines, wild boar, hares, squirrels and fireflies in June and July. Robins, jays, hoopoes, greenfinches, bee-eaters and other birds are regular visitors.
Spring is the flower season and continues into autumn with roses, violets, wild flowers, sunflowers and cyclamens. From the end of September to the beginning of November, many species of mushrooms can be found.
For a unique experience, the last week of October is the time of the olive harvest.
At night, do not miss the spectacle of the dark, star-filled sky; almost every day we can see the ISS with the naked eye.
The surroundings are true masterpieces. Paciano is a fortified medieval village near the magnificent Renaissance town of Panicale. Chiusi is the city of King Porsenna, with Etruscan tombs and an underground city. Montepulciano, theatre of Crepuscolo II, has the most beautiful wine cellar in the world according to Newsweek. Cortona (under the Tuscan sun) has an extraordinary museum with the oldest lamp in the world (4th century B.C.); Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno has a fortress built by Frederick II that can be accessed through the city walls; there is a lovely weekly open-air market; at Christmas, a huge tree of lights stands out on the surface of the lake.
A place to admire the sunset is Isola Maggiore, which can be reached by ferry.
Sarteano where a new Etruscan tomb has been discovered. Cetona has prehistoric caves and in San Casciano, as in Bagni San Filippo, you can bathe in natural hot springs in summer and winter. Chianciano has a splendid spa....
The capital is also wonderful: Perugia and its secret Rocca Paolina.
There is still much to see: Arezzo and Siena with their beautiful antiques markets every first Sunday of the month, and of course Assisi with its two churches lined up one above the other dedicated to St Francis.
If you are staying more than a week, don't miss the Marmore waterfalls, the highest in Europe, and the Frasassi caves, the most beautiful cave I have ever seen in my life.
If you want to take a train from Chiusi, you can easily reach Rome and Florence in about an hour.
We have a facebook page where you can find photos of all the activities here and in the surrounding area. Miralaghi
