Amazing place. We stayed in small room (25) nice and quiet at top of property. Comfy bed with shutters and a curtain. Coffee machine with pods , kettle and coffee bags sugar and real milk in room. Little seat sofa, robes, slippers, a working turntable and records, tv,radio and free snack pantry which was incredible. Fresh baked cake under cloche, small tubs of ice cream northern bloc, listers crisps multiple flavours , jars of jelly beans , jelly babies , shrimps& dolly mixtures and pick and mix bags, and clawson drinks in fridges - sensational. Parking is next to property for 24 hours £25 but simple walk into town 8 mins. Bar downstairs with lovely seated areas , don’t do the spa, takes Expedia discount codes too. Stunning

Unique hotel, nothing standard. Wonderfully individual, staff were very helpful, pleasant surroundings. Breakfast was good, eggs Benedict was delicious. Only download, some rooms needed a little tlc

Quirky decor in an historic setting in a great location near to York centre. Loved the pantry Disliked noisy guests above us Disliked expensive breakfast £50.00 for 1 full English (without beans) extra for toast and 2 teas and small glass of juice and 1 croissant. Should have walked into town.

Great stay. Great staff, great restaurant and bar. The room we had was tiny - absolutely no place to put anything, let alone luggage. And we would've liked to USE the desk, not have it covered with a turntable we didn't care to utilize.

Outstanding little hotel, we booked it on a whim and we were not disappointed. Attention to detail was amazing. Perfectly positioned to allow a beautiful walk to the shambles etc. only grumble would be you could hear the usic inside the restaurant from our room which wasnt an issue for me as i can sleep through anything but, it did keep my hisband up.

Fantastic treat with family
Really lovely family stay - beautiful big room kitted out with great toys for little one and also accommodating for the dog. Fantastic meal in the restaurant too. Highly recommend. We ate pre 6pm due to the little one and the prix fix menu is phenomenal value. One small point is that the corridors feel a bit tired and old so first impressions coming in from car park are disappointing, but the room and rest of the hotel more than make up for this.

Welcoming and quirky. Staff were all amazing and the baggage pick up from station is a great touch. We had lovely cocktails in the bar, yummy breakfasts and the free pantry was a sweet idea!
