What a lovely property.
The building was an absolute gem with a Gilded Age mansion feel. The items that add the most character like the interior woodwork appear original and are in great condition. The updated amenities, like electrical and plumbing, have been tastefully upgraded to modern standards. Our room on the second floor was truly beautiful. The bathroom was extremely nice, which in a nearly 100 year old building is impressive. Our room was spacious. If memory serves me correct, there are 5 rooms (3 upstairs and 2 on the main floor). I wish I could have seen them all, as I am sure they would have all have their own unique characteristics.
The location was excellent for our purposes. I enjoy walking, so I liked the 10-15 minute walk to the the town centre where all the restaurants are. Restaurants and stores are not close, which could be a drawback to some. I liked staying in a more residential neighbourhood.
The service was impeccable. Our room was always spotless. The breakfasts were satisfying. Each morning there was something new for us to try: eggs done different ways and always great bread and pastries. Florence, our host, was friendly from the moment we arrived and every morning she greeted us with cheer. She offered helpful advice on the area and ideas of where to explore. She was obviously proud of her Villa Élyane.
Overall, this was one of the nicer properties I have ever stayed in. I hope to get the opportunity to return and stay again.
