Great location. Right next to station. Good clean rooms. friendly staff. We had breakfast included although it was a bit basic. They will provide a kettle if requested.

Surprise penthouse stay
We had the 6th floor penthouse (but didn’t know it until we arrived, I just booked upgraded room). It was very roomy, nice shower, nice view. Gentleman at the front desk was friendly. The elevator stops at the 5th floor, so you need to take spiral staircase up to the sixth. It’s the only room on that floor.

Good priced hotel next to the station
Comfortable hotel, nice sized bedroom. Decor generally good but a bit dated for those used to more modern rooms. Limited facilities in room (no tea, coffee or minibar). Can be a little noisy if facing the station/taxi rank if you are a person that needs silence to sleep - the double glazing is very good at reducing noise but could not be 100% effective.

Best location but old facility
The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is next to the central station and the Cologne Cathedral. It is also within walking distance to Ludwig Museum, the famous bridge with locks on the rail, and the old town center. The service of the staffs varied, depending on the time of the day. The lady who checked in us was really friendly and efficient, but when I asked about the heating in the room later on with a gentleman, he was not that helpful. The room we stayed was big, but there was a smell of smoking although it said this was a non-smoking room. It was cold that day and we could not figure out how to turn on the heating. Although I don't mind at all, the room key was an old, traditional metal key instead of the room card.

Check-in was terrible; the man at the desk seemed agitated and angry, which made just matters worse. It is so important to have a helpful and polite receptionist at a hotel because this person will largely determine how people feel about their experience.

The Location is great right at the central station. So when traveling via public transport it is very easy to get around. I also traveled to Dusseldorf which was a direct train from central station which took around 30 minutes. The hotel staff were amazing. I went in to see what time was earliest I could check in and was able to check in earlier than my time as the room was ready. It meant I could freshen up and get on with the day to visit Dusseldorf. Brilliant staff. I had Kim who was able to give me a plug converter European to UK as I forgot to bring my own and it would have been difficult to find a store who sold it, as it was nearing 8pm as when most supermarkets close. The room was clean, the bed was decent too. The only thing is the room was really warm and no air conditioning. They do however have a fan in the room which you can use. Brilliant location as many places are walkable distances or very easy public transport routes from central station. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for convenience and traveling around.

We were given a room on the 5th floor, without a bathtub as I had requested. We were also going to have to walk down a full floor to be able to use the elevator because it could not be called up to the 5th floor. Considering our respective ages, 81 and 71, requiring us to walk down stairs, especially with luggage, was unsafe. Luckily, Thomas at the front desk was able to find us a room with proper elevator access and a bathtub. He was very helpful.
