Elk Haven is a collection of 5 cabins on a 7 acre property located in the Black Hills, on the edge of Custer, SD. Our Cabins are ideal for families, reunions, hunters and group gatherings ...as well as a romantic getaway for two. Because our cabins are centrally located to all the area's wonderful Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore attractions, it's only minutes until you're back "Home" to rest and enjoy the natural beauty and serenity right off the deck of your Black Hills cabin.
There is a master bedroom with queen bed and closet, with direct access to a spacious bathroom with a shower. The loft area above is divided for privacy and has 2 queen beds. There is also a living and dining room area. Each cabin has a full kitchen with all the amenities of home which include stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot, blender, dinnerware, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, bakeware; everything down to spice rack, dish/hand soap, hand and paper towels. Each Cabin has it own private deck with outdoor furniture, BBQ with tools, and great views of wildlife! Elk Haven is a great space for a family to spread out and get comfortable and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Black Hills.
Check out our newest property located just 3/4 of a mile up the road past the cabins. The Bluebird's Nest is a brand new garage apartment with a master bedroom and bunk room. It has one Twin XL and one Full size bed in the bunk room, Queen bed in master bedroom, and queen pullout couch in the living room. The kitchen has a full size refridgerator/dishwasher and microwave. Bathroom with double vanity. This location has heat and A/C. Property backs up to Forest Service and view of Crazy Horse. Peaceful and beautiful location.

Blue Bird Nest in the Woods
The Blue Bird Nest cabin was the perfect choice for us. It was clean and comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen where we cooked our meals each night after a day of hiking the various trails in Custer State Park. The views from the cabin are picturesque and we saw lots of dear in the area. The owners live on the property, but gave us complete privacy and were available by text if we needed anything (which we didn’t). The town of Custer is a few miles away and has lots of nice restaurants and a supermarket. By the end of our stay, we felt like this cabin in the woods gave us the complete experience.

Perfect location and amenities
Stayed with a friend and used it as a base for exploring the Black Hills and Badlands over four days. Incredibly convenient and central location while safely and quietly located in a quiet neighborhood, just minutes from Custer. The property is gorgeous and the amenities were all as described with generously proportioned rooms. We were very pleased with our entire stay and would recommend highly.

Beautiful property!
This apartment is set in such a beautiful setting, surrounded by the best Black Hills hillsides. The kids found plenty of fun on the rocks and hillside surrounding the cabin. You are technically right beside the property owner, but you feel miles away from civilization with an entrance that opens facing away from the homeowner's home. The house is clean, easy to use, and had plenty of room for our family of four. The property owners were available when needed and were friendly to chat with. We hope to make it back again someday!

The Blue Bird's nest was such a perfect spot for our family of 5. We did lots of sight seeing during the day, but loved coming back to a picturesque spot to relax in the evenings. Such a beautiful property, off the main roads, fully stocked apartment, and wonderful accommodating hosts! Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful Blue Birds Nest
This was our first time doing a vrbo and it worked out perfectly for us. The location was central to everything we were doing and the place felt almost like home. Kitchen was supplied with everything we needed to make our meals. Would rent again if we return to the black hills.

Beautiful property
This was an absolutely beautiful home. I visited with my husband and kids, and all of us loved it. The family enjoyed sitting outside under the stars by the fire pit, and playing cornhole. There was more than enough space for all of us. I especially liked chatting with the host - she was so welcoming and made us feel right at home.

Three of us stayed here for a week and it was an enjoyable location. It is an apartment above the garage and the owners live next door. The space and kitchen are all very new. It is very quiet, as it is at the end of a dirt road, with only a few scattered neighboring houses. There are lots of trees, a campfire area, and the stars are very visible at night. The road connects directly with Highway 16, is close to Custer, and provides easy access to all of the many sites to visit in the area.
