Portling View - an apartment that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Portling View all on the first floor level, sits in a beautiful elevated position with superb views to the Solway Firth and lake District beyond, there is easy access to the quiet secluded beach at Portling which leads round to Sandyhills Bay and beach.

Set in the quiet hamlet of Portling the apartment is within easy reach of other popular destinations on the Solway Firth including Sandyhills beach, Colvend, Rockcliffe and Kippford. There is a restaurant and bar at Sandyhills and a village shop and cafe at Colvend; Kippford has two popular pubs both serving food and also a tea room. The bustling village of Kippford is a sailing centre which ensures that there is always something to watch while taking sustenance at one of the two hostelries.

South Scotland is famous for its beautiful scenery and surprisingly mild climate due to the effects of the Gulf Stream. The area abounds with Scottish culture and history with too many sites to mention. Three which should not be missed would include Sweetheart Abbey at New Abbey, Threave Gardens and Castle at Castle Douglas and slightly further afield Logan Botanic Gardens together with the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. The area also has superb outdoor recreational facilities and opportunities with wildlife and bird watching almost wherever you are and in particular the RSPB Mersehead Reserve at Southwick, Galloway Forest Park for both wildlife watching and also walking and mountain biking. Those looking for testing bike trails can enjoy the Forestry Commission 7Stanes Routes with the chance to try a different trail on every day of the week! Sea and loch sailing is available in the near vicinity with the principal base being Kippford for sea sailing whilst Loch Ken provides opportunities for sailing and water skiing. Throughout the area there is sea, loch and course fishing and also, of course, golf with courses to suit all abilities with the charming Colvend course being with in walking distance and only slightly further afield is the challenging Southerness Championship Links Course (Seven miles).

Portling View, with its comfortable and well laid out accommodation including a lovely small Juliet balcony with panoramic view out onto the Solway Firth provides a truly exceptional holiday location.

Discovering Dalbeattie
Lovely first floor apartment with good facilities and lovely views of the surrounding countryside and sea. We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the accommodation was - well fitted out also. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable flat in a great setting
We really enjoyed our stay in Portling View. The accommodation worked really well for us (three adults and a dog). It is a comfortable flat with a very well equipped kitchen. The garden area is a short distance from the door, and it worked really well for morning and evening dog runs. The fine weather meant we enjoyed numerous local walks, and if you are looking for something a little different then the Segway tours at nearby Gorsebank Active can't be bettered - even for us as seniors!

Great stay
The property was extremely spacious and very well equipped. It was spotlessly clean and in a beautiful location. The secure garden was great for our dog. The little beach was 5 minutes walk and the best in the area. There were some lovely walks in the vicinity and a couple of good pubs in the village of Kippford. We had a lovely stay.

Lovely location and a good spot for walking and touring the Dumfries and Galloway coast.
Well appointed kitchen, light good sized rooms. Lacked some finesse in that duvets and pillows were of poor quality, picture hooks left on walls, curtains tacked to walls etc

Lovely and Quite beautiful
A great first floor stay with three bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and ensuit and living/dining room. Very well appointed with everything you need from cutlery to glasses and pans, tv and bedding with towels. Can't ask for more. One hour from M6 and central to everywhere in Dumfries and Galloway. David is on hand but never intrusive.

Solway coast retreat
This 1st floor apartment with views of the coast is spacious, comfortable, warm and well-equipped, although the decor is rather bland. It's off the main road so lovely and quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the beach. We enjoyed some splendid coast walks straight from the apartment which can be shortened by catching the bus which stops on the main road 5 mins walk away. Dogs are welcome and have their own secure garden and even a tap to wash muddy paws. The shop at Colvend half a mile away is well-stocked with essentials and treats. All in all, highly recommended for those who appreciate a tranquil spot close to the coast.
