About this property

Cowboy guest house on the farm -bring your dog ! Work from here.

Enjoy a little Georgia country Nirvana far from the city in spirit only. This is a one bedroom guest cabin on our farm. It is perfect for a weekend getaway or a longer work stay.
Originally built as a bunkhouse for the attached barn, our guest quarters are a complete apartment with a full sized kitchen equipped with everything you might need for daily cooking. The internet is 200 MGs and very fast. Our place sleeps 2-4 people with a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. A TV is set up with Roku TV, a DVD player, and an HDMI cable if you want to hook up a laptop and watch your own favorite channels. Central air and heat keep the place comfortable with extra help from ceiling fans and a beautiful electric fireplace.

Our farm is 31 acres near the Chickamauga Battlefield. We are 20 minutes to Chattanooga and 30 minutes from Cloudland Canyon and Lookout Mountain attractions. Bring a kayak or canoe--there is a launch into the West Chick Creek just a mile down the road. Bring your bike and enjoy safely riding through the Battlefield. Come back from your adventures and relax with a walk through the pastures or on the trails through our woods. Set up an easel out there for a day of plein air painting.
We live on the property in a 145 year old farmhouse that sits across the yard. We like to greet guests when they arrive but are happy to interact as much or as little as guests prefer.

We are dog friendly but do charge a pet fee. Please include that in your booking if you are traveling with your best friend. Our main dog, Rocco, is a big boxer/mastiff mix and is super friendly. Our auxiliary dog, Dakota, is a boxer girl who will bark at strangers so we keep an eye on her around guests. We have a kennel/crate in the guesthouse if you need it.

We have our own family of friendly pasture pets behind the barn--goats, very free range chickens, and donkeys. Pats and supervised cuddles are encouraged! Our cats, Ricky and Lucy, are very friendly, too. We have seen plenty of deer here and there is a big heron that fishes at the pond. The frogs are everywhere and will sing you to sleep at night.

Be aware that we keep chickens and have some roosters. Roosters crow all day, FYI. And, this is important, our birds are very free ranging and some live in the yard with our dogs. We always ask guests to keep their dogs leashed when arriving until we can see how they react to chickens. There are lots of other places around the property to run off leash if being in the yard with chickens is too much for your dog.
Please be assured that we follow HomeAway's guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting our guesthouse.
Please note: we have expanded our vacation rental with the addition of our vintage camper set up behind the garage and guesthouse. Camper guests have their own area separate from the main guesthouse but some areas such as the laundry room with half bath, parking area, pond, barn, and pastures are shared. All guests are asked to abide by our quiet hours. Camper guests are allowed to bring their dog.

We have a 2 night minimum and offer a discounted rate for longer stays. We do not rent out the upper level if guests are booking through this downstairs listing. We live in the 145 year old farmhouse across the yard and are around most of the time. Visit us on Instagram @littlefrogadventures and Facebook : SydneyLand Farm

Most relaxing and refreshing overnight stay!
Loved meeting Mike, Sydney and Rocco and staying overnight in the bunkhouse on the farm. Mike and Sydney were very warm and welcoming! Rocco, the dog, was very friendly. The bunkhouse was cozy and bed was extremely comfortable. We enjoying sitting by the fire and visiting with the donkeys, goats, and chickens. We even had fresh eggs for breakfast! It was only an overnight stay. Wish it was available on our trip back through.

Perfect, Quiet Getaway
What a dream this property was! The Bunkhouse had everything we could possibly need for our stay as well as some very sweet touches like farm fresh eggs left out for us to use. We loved the coziness of the Bunkhouse and having the freedom to wander their property. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Adorable bunkhouse
Cozy, comfortable bunkhouse. Beds very comfortable. Clean and well stocked with amenities. Great shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Only about 30 minutes to Chattanooga. Just a few minutes to the lovely town of Chickamauga. Lots of Civil War memorials in the area and the Chickamauga Battlefield. Hosts were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend for a relaxing comfortable stay.

Cabin needs a good cleaning and better lighting
Communication with Sydney was friendly and timely and I was greeted by her and Mike upon my arrival. I had planned to work from the cabin and enjoy a change of scenery for 10 days. I left after 4 days because of cleanliness and lighting issues. I contacted Sydney directly to provide feedback to her about these issues. The cabin hadn’t been wiped down or thoroughly cleaned in a while. There were dead bugs and a layer of dust on everything—the entryway desk, bookshelf and bedroom dressers, inside the bedside lamps, etc. The bedsheets were clean, but everything else needed to be cleaned. Everything in the kitchen was covered with a layer of dust and a greasy film, dead gnats and food particles. The refrigerator had fingerprints and splatter marks down the front, sides and inside and the shelves had food residue. I purchased Pinesol, 409, vinegar, a scrub brush and wipes—and cleaned the entire kitchen, fridge, freezer, floor—just to feel comfortable cooking and eating there. In addition, there was very little natural light inside the cabin. Even with all the lights on, it was still very dark. I moved my computer to all optional work areas, but it was too dark and difficult to work there. I desperately needed a change of scenery from my everyday surroundings—and I hated to return home, wasting the allotted days and money paid. However, returning home felt like the better option. A full or partial refund would be greatly appreciated.

Cute property but very dirty and poorly crafted
Kitchen stove, fridge front, floors all very dirty. Mouse droppings on kitchen counter. Very cute concept of turning a barn into a property but the construction was poor. Big gaps in wall boards so plenty of space for critters to get in especially when attached to other stables and barn buildings used for animals. There was rodent bait placed behind appliances so I was very leary that our dogs would get into the poison. Lots of things to do in area, and our dogs loved making friends with the friendly little donkey on the property. Was a bit cold and drafty for the time of year we stayed mid February. We just tried to make the most of it since we only had a 2-night stay.

Wonderful place
This farm is 40 min outside Chattanooga in beautiful hilly country of Georgia close to mountains and great hiking. It is immaculate but cozy. If you like animals and farms it's perfect. Our dog even tried refusing to leave after enjoying a huge fenced in yard. They have chicken s, donkeys and goats. Sydney and Mike are friendly, and welcoming but give you all the privacy you would like. Can't wait to go back.

Relaxed, warm and cozy Birthday!
Communjcations with Sydney began shortly after booking and guaranteed a quick and easy welcome and check-in. The pics on the site are just what you will enjoy when you arrive... Charming, comfortable and spotless! OLLIE loved rollicking across the acres and enjoyed meeting some of the livestock (in a controlled environment!). My wife and I enjoyed joining Sydney for the feeding of the goats and chickens and donkeys! What a HOOT! (HOOT is not a word I use often but it fits) We found a large variety of delicious and fun restaurants within 8 to 10 miles, and much to do in Chattanooga not much further. We look forward to visiting "The Bunkhouse" again!!

Great Weekend Getaway
My foster dog and I came up for a quiet weekend just before the Christmas hustle and bustle. The "bunkhouse" was the perfect size for us. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Sydney and Mike were a pleasure to talk with, and Sydney let me accompany her as she fed the goats, donkeys, and chickens which was such a treat for me. The farm has lots of acreage, and my foster dog had a blast off leash in the fenced pastures that were not being used by their animals. She also loved meeting their laid back dog, Rocko. I hope to go back again and perhaps bring friends and make use of their airstream campers as well!

Simply an amazing experience!
We and our four doggies, give super-host Sydney, Mike, and their farm menagerie 4 thumbs and 16 paws up for our recent stay at their farmhouse! Every necessity and convenience was provided, including freshly gathered eggs from the farm chickens, and fully equipped kitchen and home. All the donkeys, goats, and chickens were friendly and happy to interacting with us while Rocco, their, boxer-mastiff mix, and Boots, their barn cat, cordially shared their courtyard with our K9 pack. We all enjoyed hiking the groomed trails on the property, watching the sun rise and set, and sitting around the fire pit. Although we could've hung out at this wonderful and unique property, the sightseeing and local attraction information gave us plenty to do. Chickamauga Battle Park, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, and Sunset Rock to name a few. Choo Choo BBQ is close and great. Truly a wonderful time at the farmhouse. We'll be back !!!

Perfect country getaway - close to the city!
I cannot say enough good things about the farm and Sydney & Mike. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely be back again. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. I normally would not want to stay somewhere that I would be interacting with the owners and be near their own personal home but this was such a lovely experience for us. Everyone is friendly but going about the usual business of running this beautiful farm. We loved interacting with the animals and leisurely strolls around the property. We also got to downtown Chattanooga with ease, so you get the best of both worlds when you stay at this property. Overall, a great trip & we cannot wait to get back!
