Voyager Rest is ideally located to enjoy the incredible beauty of wild wonderful West Virginia! It is situated on a private 7+ acre lot, within Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge - within Old Timberline gated resort community. It offers complete privacy, yet is just minutes from countless outdoor pursuits.

The interior of Voyager Rest is exquisitely finished with antiques and collectables from around the globe. It is truly one of a kind. It includes, a large stone wood-burning fireplace, oak beams, antique hardwood and slate flooring, stone showers, and granite counter-tops fitted with hand-made copper sinks. Two kayaks are available to guests; one at each lake (Please see orientation).

Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge was the 500th National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) to be established in the United States. The refuge preserves a moist valley with unique wetlands and uplands at a relatively high elevation in the Allegheny Mountains.

Note guests have access to fishing at (2) lakes within the Old Timberline community <5min from the cabin - no fishing license required within the community.

Wonderful and unique!
We enjoyed the many unique items throughout the home collected by the owner through their travels. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and very private with wonderful views. Communication was a little lacking, but there were no major issues. We would definitely stay again!

Another Fantastic Stay
This home is so so special and we enjoyed another fantastic stay. Had great skiing weather a couple days, one day of rain but we played board games and enjoyed the hot tub. My 80 year old Mom slept till noon and I had to go wake her, the beds were so comfortable. Thanks again to Jim for such a fun place to take a wide range of people. We hated to leave!

Family Trip
Voyager Rest was perfect place for our quick trip to introduce our grandchildren to skiing. They loved exploring the rooms and the unique decor. The place is in a perfect location to the slopes at Timberline Mountain Ski Resort. It was easy to check in at the security gate and access the home. Very clean and well stocked with items you might need while away from home. Jim, the owner, was quick to reply with the front door code when VRBO didn't send it. He sent detailed instructions that covered any questions we might have had while there. The hot tub was a huge family favorite. Our dogs loved running around in the snow around the home. We didn't have trouble driving on the snow packed road to the place. we will definitely be returning!

Fantastic cabin with SO much character
My family and I loved this place. Location is just minutes from timberline, the cost was good and it had more character than any VRBO I've rented before. The views were top notch and the owner was very communicative. The pics do not do it justice. Would recommend to anyone and I can assure you we will be back

Great place to relax after a day of adventure
My family (2 adults, 2 kids) and my parents had a fantastic time at the house, Voyager Retreat. The home is beautiful, very well built, which was reassuring during a winter storm with strong winds, and cozy. The decor is eclectic and enjoyable. The home amenities were perfect for our group and kept in great condition. The location is fantastic, secluded with a great view but also convenient to the local resorts. Hopefully we can return to enjoy a different season as I’m sure the summer and fall would be amazing.

Jim is a lovely and responsive host. The property is just as pictured on the website. The home is a treasure trove of objects from around the world. The bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen has most all conveniences that we needed to prepare meals. We were there in early November, I'm sure it is even more beautiful during the summer and autumn months when you can enjoy the outside features.

Wonderful!!
The entire stay was fantastic! Voyagers Rest is a unique and beautiful place full of cozy treasures. It was well equipped with everything we needed to stay comfortably. Kitchen was full stocked with cooking essentials, beds were super comfortable and a soak in the hot tub was an amazing way to end the day! We enjoyed beautiful scenery, adventures hikes and plenty of family time and relaxation! We will definitely be back!!

A Perfect Getaway
Voyager Rest is a beautiful mountain retreat which possesses a timeless charm and a sense of privacy, peace and permanence that we loved. The lodge is filled with fascinating items from Owner Jim’s travels, both antique and simply unique, which fire the imagination and beg to tell their respective stories! A Cozy Retreat
This place was very relaxing. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and drinking our coffee in the morning. Also, the decor was a constant source of conversation as the house has art and knick knacks from around the world. I especially enjoyed a soak in the hot tub and the very excellent "cave" shower in the master bath. My daughter found a bunch of kid's toys in the room we put her in and the owner was not only okay with her playing with them but happy they were getting used. Overall, the owner was very responsive to my messages.

Beautiful Getaway
My kids and I had the most relaxing and best time at this beautiful property! The house is so private and located in a beautiful neighborhood with spectacular views! It's filled with treasures from all over the world and is very unique. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking many trails, fishing, exploring Davis and Thomas and a day boating on Deep Creek Lake. Would highly recommend! My kids said it was the best vacation ever!

Lovely home with spectacular views
Timberline is a beautiful site for Voyager Rest. Jim built a lovely home decorated with interesting exotic pieces from around the world. You can tell instantly how well the home is maintained. The sunrises are spectacular and the sunsets will take your breath away. We would love to come back.

Awesome!
Amazing cabin with incredibly eclectic decor from the owner’s trips overseas. The cabin is super secluded even though it is within a gated community of cabins and vacation homes. You just don’t see or really even hear anyone else. It is truly like being alone in the woods. We spent the week hiking and canoeing and just relaxing and it was a great stay. Very much looking forward to a return trip.
