This property has been our favorite since our daughter moved to Des Moines. She lives in the Fleming Building, which is next to the Surety. The location is great, and we really like the underground parking. We will definitely be back.

Perfect stay! Incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Top-notch service. Wonderful coffee shop and avocado toast in the lobby and a great place to have a drink at night before you went upstairs to your room. Well, done

Beautiful Hotel
Beautiful hotel and our room was great. Unfortunately the a/c in the room must be motion activated because we both woke up a few times in the night because it had gotten too warm in our room. Also, we were there at the same time as the Des Moines Marathon which made for a delay getting out of downtown. It would have been super helpful if the hotel had a map showing how to get around all of the road closures. Google Maps wasn't aware of the race.

We liked: - the property was pet-friendly with wood-like floors. - the rolling cart in the ADA bathroom. - the friendly desk clerk We did not like: - the dim lights in the room. Needed extra lamps with bright bulbs - the smallness of the room - especially with a wheelchair - that the pocket door on the bathroom wouldn't stay closed, it kept rolling open - no ice, no room service, no laundry service - very poor parking situation that required walking outside by the criminal court building in a seedy area - very thin mattress on a platform bed - placing dogs in adjacent rooms where they could sense each other's presence throughout the night - ADA room with roll-in shower that had no shower seat - no way for a wheelchair user to hang clothes - only wall hook was in the bathroom behind furniture that a wheelchair-user could not reach. The hangers in the armoire were all too high for a wheel-chair user - small area rug in an ADA room. The rug kept getting caught in my wheels. The room was so filled with problems that we didn't attempt to rectify them. Instead we just got out of there as quickly as possible. And I made sure that the hosts of my conference knew to never use or recommend the Surety Hotel for their future attendees.

The staff were very friendly and engaging. We had our dog with us and they suggested a photo op in the courtyard with the hay and pumpkin all set up. It was a nice visit!
