It was amazing! Such a beautiful place and so well maintained! The views are stunning, the fishing was good and the quaint little town of Dorchester is a real jewel!. I fell in love with The Driftless
The cabin is large and comfortable. Excellent setup for two couples and children. Inside was clean. The outside needs some picking up, which is to be expected in early springtime in Iowa. Some of the utensils, such as the can opener and vegetable peeler, need replacing.
Surprised to see a tiny house just 500 feet from the cabin and the garage by the cabin being renovated as another cabin to rent; No one else stayed the days we did so we had the place to ourselves. It also appears that there will be more rentals going up soon, so the information and picture of the place should be updated. Otherwise, Gabby answered all questions promptly and check-in was a breeze! Enjoyed our stay!!
Loved staying at the Lazy River Cabin and would definitely stay again! Very cozy property and perfect location on the river with quick access to other streams. Huge bonus with the hot tub, too.
Overall our stay was very pleasant. The property was mostly clean but did have dead flies and ladybugs around. There was also a mouse in the lower level.
My family met with the rest of my family at this cabin for a Christmas get together. We had a relaxing time being together in the cabin. Only thing that seemed odd was the amount of lights flickering and also electricity had shut off two times while we were there. Otherwise we loved it and wonder about visiting in the summertime too.
Liked that the cabin was exactly as advertised. 3 bedrooms was what we wanted, and space to have our things. Was a complete property, as in its a turn key stay. Just bring your food and drink, and enjoy the wonderful views and scenery.
The property was one of the nicest we have stayed in. Very clean with plenty of towels and linens. It had an amazing view of the bluffs and the river. The hot tub was clean and warm. The only downside is the same that most rwntals have, they are not accesible easily for people with mobility issues or handicaps. Bathrooms are small and cramped woth low toilets, tall toilets would help improve that. Steps were a decent angle but could use better handrails.
The 2 decks were so relaxing to sit and watch the river flow and see the brightly covered fall leaf bluffs waukon is 12 miles away and has a great source for groceries and eating. A hop skip and jump East and you are at the Mississippi. Drive to New Albin for great smoked meats and steaks for grilling. It is also home to the only meat vending machine I have ever seen. .
We spent my besties 40th birthday here for 3 nights. Owners werenât very good at getting back to us about the check in process, kept us on our toes worried we werenât going to have the code when we got there. Once I found the phone number, she responded right away! Which I was thankful because once we arrived we had zero service. The cabin is a great set up for hosting the 4 couples we had. The coffee pot was our next hurdle. Itâs not the same as the one pictures. We had 1 single serve and a 5 cup brewer. The single serve didnât even work, and the 5 cup was slower than molasses. I contacted Gabbi and she had one dropped off later that night, which ended up being another 5 cup coffee pot. With 8 adults drinking coffee it wasnât very convenient, but we made do. We enjoyed the hot tub and the view of the river. We hoped to go kayaking but the rental place and just closed for the season. All in all, itâs a great place to stay. It seems like it could use some updating- some of the outlets didnât work, or light switches. Happy to have the privacy though and we had amazing weather.
We had a very nice time. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The owner did not contact us on day of arrival until later in the evening (well past check in time) I had sent a few messages the day prior with no response and no directions on how to get into the property.
