On the hotels.com site, I was offered a rate of $149 plus tax, but when I came time to pay at the hotel they charged me $197 plus tax. For that price, I could have stays somewhere more updated. The room was clean but dated, with peeling paint and wall paper in the room.

Had to walk several blocks, due to construction, down town Halifax. Got lost and also had parking included but ended up paying 30 dollars a day for parking because hotel staff had no idea what to do about the free parking. Paid for an upgraded hotel room and it was the worst room I stayed in Halifax in my life, I thought there had to be a mistake, asked the staff they said that’s there executive room which made no sense. The view from the window was a square in the middle of the hotel looking into the other hallways and nothing but a concrete puddle in the middle. The puddle water had to be there for a while because it smelt terrible like mold, wall paper peeling off, I thought the Barrington was a great hotel From friends and family from years before but someone must have bought it just to let it fall apart and to take advantage of the good name they had in the past and the access to the casino. Do not recommend. Thanks for listening

The Barrington Hotel has a superb location. Although it's surrounded by a construction "war zone" currently, its elevators weren't working for stretches of our stay, the pool was a bit cloudy, and guests were struggling to print boarding passes at the lobby's business office for guests, the old Barrington has many compensatory attributes. We were able to walk to all the restaurants and pubs, the mall was very convenient next door, we use the stairs anyway so the elevator outage wasn't a big deal in a three-floor hotel, it's a 3-minute walk to the boardwalk, we had a very good breakfast, brunch, and a nightcap at the adjacent Tempo that featured excellent service and value, and the hotel desk staff showed good problem-solving to get our boarding passes printed. Definitely a 4 out of 5.

This property is a pain to get to from the parking lot. Elevator was broken, no one to help carry bags up. We were not able to drop off out bags at the door either. The road was closed, we had to drag them from the parking lot to the hotel. Block & a half. And UP HILL back to the parkade. Nobody answered the phone when we called reception. Pool was murky. Saunas did not work. AC wasn’t working very well. Bed was awesome and comfy clean and great pillows. Yeah! Location is great but not exactly waterfront, our view was another building. A nice building though.

The hotel is in an older building, but it is well maintained. The staff were nice. The hotel charged a damage deposit at check in, but they are not returning the deposit at check out, but stated "3-5 business days later". That is unusual and annoying.

The pool and the gym was good in this hotel. We fell for the trick on Expedia where it says Breakfast available. Breakfast wasn't included but the T=restaurant Tempo has good breakfast for reasonable price.

Its unfortunate that this hotel is near major construction. We were warned our water might be brown. One elevator was down the whole time then the 2nd one went down. The place was clean but very tired. The price was right so you get what you pay for.

The area is a mess! Closed entrances and construction everywhere. The hotel itself is fine and in an excellent spot, but Halifax needs to finally close that open pit that seems to be there every time I come.

Difficult to get to hotel due to construction in area. Hotel did a good job in advising of this before arrival. No construction noises though. One elevator was out of order for two days and one day neither worked leading to a three floor walk. Sauna did not work two of the days we were there, Restaurant had grab and go service but was very slow. Lication good for access to waterfront. Room comfortable.
