Really enjoyed my stay at the Commonwealth! Cons -Hot water pressure could have been better in the shower. -Not a lot of late night dining options in the area. This is more of a Richmond thing, not a hotel thing. Pros -Beautiful rooms! We were very happy with the accomodations. -Staff was amazing especially KENNY! Kenny is a guy that brought energy and smiles to his job and was extremel helpful. They need to triple that man's pay. In addition, everyone on staff was just a joy to be around.

Rooms too dark. No complimentary water bottle. Restaurant food was bad. Couldn’t use credit card. Only cash. Surrounding outdoor area was very safe to walk. Looks beautiful inside online, but inside felt dreary. Staff was very kind but not dressed appropriately.

I've stayed here before and I've always liked the hotel. That said, I self-parked my motorcycle and was charged $ for valet. And in the morning did not have hot water in the shower. It was 'just' warm enough to shower, but not comfortably.

The rooms here are adorable and the classic style has been maintained. I checked in late at night. The process went smoothly, but the staff seemed less than thrilled to be there. No real complaints though.

The Commonwealth is located directly across from the state capital. The neighborhood is fairly isolated but is convenient by car to most everything. The staff is overwhelmingly attentive and friendly. We stayed in suite 302 which is very large. Free bottled water is replenished daily and the shower products are very nice. Wi-fi was good, comfy bed and nice couch with TV in the bedroom. The facility is somewhat dated and there were multiple issues in our suite including a non-functioning thermostat in the living room and a smoke alarm that went off after a steamy shower. Since we were there for just 2 nights we didn't request any maintenance.

I stopped at the Commonwealth for a night driving up to NY. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room, the comfort of the bed and how accommodating and nice the staff was. I was worried about leaving the car on the street overnight and they went out of their way to assure me it was safe. I enjoyed my stay and will return next time!

The hotel is located downtown and only a few minutes walk from the canal . It was clean and cozy. The staff were also great.
