The AC unit was messed up. I think it has a bad bearing. The entire room shakes when it goes on. A bonus vibrating bed but with no control over it! I was woken up by the shaking a dozen times. Tahoe City is up in the mountains and the blankets were not substantial, so the heater was essential. Sleep or warm were the options here, but not both unfortunately.
Room was clean, very cute with the decor. I really enjoyed the outdoor firepits right outside the lobby (there are two). It was quiet and my boyfriend and I were the only ones out there so we got to enjoy each other's company while roasting some smores and drinking a beer that we got from the lobby (I highly recommend their strawberry cider-yum!) . We were only there for one night since we decided to extend our trip, but I would definitely stay here again.
Great location- walk across the street to get to bike trails and beach access. Hotel is cute with lots of rustic reclaimed wood and nice decor. Had great wine and watched Monday night football at Uncorked with some friendly locals. Only minor downside is showerhead was from about 1976 so the shower experience wasn't as great as I assumed it would be with all the other uogrades and attention to detail
Coffee in lobby only had chemical creamers
( really?)
Side area with two chairs had trash the whole time all over the ground. Other than that it’s a decent place to stay.
Nice remodeled no-frillls motel, with the whole “base camp” outdoorsy theme going. The lobby is sort of set up like a mini lodge with beer and wine for sale and big leather couches and a fireplace. Location is across the street from dining, grocery, and Lake Tahoe. No coffee or coffeemaker in the room, which was strange. Coffee in the lobby but it doesn’t open until 8:00 am.
The room was nice & comfy, but small.
and bed was comfy also.
No coffee maker. But an electric tea kettle. Disappointed there wasnt a bath tub, just a small shower.
I had called and asked for a late (noon) check-out before i arrived, which was approved. Typical check out is 11am. Was annoying when the maid knocked on my door at 11am, and used her key to enter my room, when I was sleeping. I told her i had arranged a late check out- at noon. Then 30 mins later, she bangs on my door again! So i AGAIN told her, i had arranged a late check-out, at noon..!
Wish the staff would pay more attention and communicate with eachother..
We checked in were warmly greeted by Johnny. He was so nice and friendly told us about things that were going on and a great breakfast place called Duffs Diner which was absolutely delicious
Love this place! The beds are very comfortable. The staff goes above and beyond to make things right.
The fire pits are so fun and the location is fabulous. We will definitely be returning.
Basecamp is well located. An easy walk into Tahoe City and the lake. They do a nice job making you feel welcome with fire pits, happy hours and nice common rooms. The rooms are clean and simple. They are a little dark because most have a walkway in front requiring shades to be drawn. It seemed to be a pretty good value compared to other spots. It would be nice if they provided a simple breakfast in the lobby.
This was a no frills property, but very clean, with self parking, great staff and within walking distance to many activities and restaurants. Best of all, it was extremely quiet!
We didn't get to stay as long as we'd liked but our room was comfortable and a perfect location. we would absolutely return to Basecamp for our next Tahoe City visit.
