Upon checking in, we received a less than warm welcome from the front desk staff (a tall brunette with an accent). She appeared as if she didn’t want to be there, did not smile at all when greeting us, and gave off a snobbish attitude while very matter-of-factly reciting the specifics of our stay as though we worked for her. Nonetheless, that unpleasant experience was outshined by Garnett’s (the doorman) five-star customer service-he took our bags without us having to ask and offered us two glasses of champagne which he promptly brought to the front desk with a smile (perhaps he should work the front desk). He also brought our bags up to the room, placed our belongings where we wanted, and offered to give us several locations to visit around town. The bathroom was small as many others have mentioned, but fit the amazing decor of this hotel which is brimming with character and has amazing original detail in the architecture. Everything being within walking distance is a plus. The room would have been perfectly clean had there not been an unknown liquid splashed across the wall that had stained the baseboards and carpet. This would have been a five-star experience had the front desk and cleanliness of the room met those standards.
