I think specifically for the room I was in, there was someone smoking right next to it or maybe even before I got there. The place was dusty and there were hairs in the bathroom. The smell in the bathroom smelled like urine and cigarette smoke. I was able to tell a staff member the next morning and I think they took care of whoever was smoking next to my room. Parking is behind the building. It’s good that this location is convenient to other things around Dubuque but having the room kind of smell like cigarette smoke didn’t make me feel comfortable being there.

We were there during a dog convention (had no idea). But the property took cautionary measures to protect the carpets, and tiles and you’d never know 100s of dogs were wandering through. My room was clean, bed was comfortable, the staff was very kind. Due to the convention my daughter had the pool to herself. Pool was clean, area around it was clean and the towels stacked full. We did do the breakfast buffet at the in house restaurant. $14.95/person, children eat free. We were fine with the breakfast buffet - but they also had menus available. I saw some people had complained in previous reviews - however I think sometimes we fail to realize the cost of “free” anything is built into our room rates elsewhere. It was a fine set up. I appreciated not having to go off the hotel grounds to grab breakfast. A lot of restaurants are walkable should you opt to go outside of the hotel. It’s a beautiful and clean facility. Great water pressure. Wanted for nothing. Would recommend.

From check in to check out, a smooth process. The room was bright and spacious and very comfortable. Parking lot was big. Shuttle took us to the college campus for free.

We reserved a king bed that reception decided to hold for a guest that was checking in the next day. The front desk staff were very rude when asked why we were being denied the bed we reserved when we were told it was available the night we checked in? My husband recently had back surgery so sleeping together in a queen bed won't work. We looked at other hotels but paid more for a king at this hotel. My husband snores loudly so if he is sleeping in another bed I cannot gently tickle his ear so he stops snoring. I got a total of 5 hours of sleep over our 2 night stay. Our breakfast coupons were also withheld until we went and asked for them. The restraunt buffet left a lot to be desired but the wait staff was great. There was not enough parking so we spent a great deal of time driving around. There were only 3 handicapped parking spots but far more elite parking spots. Why do elite members deserve preferred parking more than handicapped? The air conditioner wasn't working properly and we were warm the first night. They cleaned all air conditioners Saturday starting at 8am (very early) and there was water on the floors and elevators, very dangerous. The grip bar in the shower had been repaired but there were gaps that made em nervous to use it. Also the grip bar was to low for the shower. This hotel certainly didnt deserve the rating it has.

Bad smell from hearing unit
Decent hotel in a great location. Bathroom felt aged and less clean. The main issue we had was the air conditioning- we couldn’t turn it completely off without turning on the heat. Heat would have bee fine as it was 40 degrees that night but it smelled really bad like burnt animal. I imagine it was because of the change of seasons but they really need to flush it out before guests are in the room.
