Cozy one room cabin and outhouse tucked in the woods with your own private site.

The "Kick Back Tiny Shack" has a queen size bed, small futon bed (for a child) along with 2 single camp cots. This tiny house can sleep up to four people (2-3 most comfortably) depending on your needs. There is a mini fridge with mini freezer along with a mini gas range/oven, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. There is a TV with only local channels available. Wi-Fi is available at nearby restaurants. AT&T works well here, all others are very scetchy. The cabin has a freestanding gas fireplace to keep you cozy and warm. Come prepared to relax. This is a rustic cabin with all amenities so no need to pack up dishes, bedding, towels, etc. (bring sleeping bag and pillow for anything other than the queen size bed.) The kitchen is fully stocked with your basic cooking and dining essentials. If you don't want to do dishes you are welcome to bring your own paper plates, etc. Coffee, coffee filters, Salt, pepper, dish soap and hand soap, toilet paper and one roll of paper towels provided. There is no running water, but you will be supplied with electric pump faucet with 5 gallons of water for the kitchen sink for doing dishes, etc. There is also a electric pump faucet for the outhouse sink. You can heat water on the stove with the camp coffee pot supplied. In addition, drinking water will be supplied also. There is a heated outhouse next to the cabin which has a shower stall and water heater in which you can shower. Towels will be available and if you need more water, you can contact us, and we can refill at our home which is located next door. The contact information will be provided with your booking confirmation. Please allow notice in case we are not home at the time. You have your own private yard on our 6 acres with a screen tent and BBQ pit (summer months), firepit and grill off of the back deck. If you chose to bring a four-wheeler, canoe, boat or snowmobile there is plenty of parking space depending on the quantity. Come and disconnect and unwind or explore the many wonders that the Northwoods has to offer!

Although we are animal lovers, no pets are allowed.

No smoking is allowed in the cabin. Ashtrays will be available to you if you would like to smoke outside. Please do not leave cigarette butts anywhere but in the ashtrays or firepit. When using firepit be aware of wind and do not have campfire in extremely windy days/nights. Extinguish fire when not attended. Buckets of water will be available during dry times of the year. Please note that at certain times burning bans may be in effect. Bring bug spray in the spring/summer!

Be aware that this is bear country and store your food inside.

The interior of the cabin is newly refinished. The exterior will be improved as time goes by. Since the cabin and outhouse were moved to their private spot recently, there is not much grass yet.

This is a private wooded lot. Lakes, rivers and trails are nearby. For those looking for a quiet place, it is mainly a quiet area to listen to the sounds of nature. The cabin is set back but it is located on a main road in which people do travel. You may rarely hear gunshots at times as neighbors may be hunting on their land, etc. Please be considerate to our neighbors. Quiet time is between 10pm to 8am.

The Kick Back Tiny Shack is located about 25 miles north of The City of Duluth, about 30 miles from the Miller Hill Mall Area, 25 miles northwest of Two Harbors, 80 miles south of Ely. Hidden Gem Cabin Getaway!
Blissful!! My partner and I stayed for a weekend to see the fall colors, and although it was dreary and rainy, it was absolutely beautiful and incredibly cozy! Had everything we could need, and it was super nice to be able to unplug and truly get away, with other luxuries readily available. Couldn’t have asked for a better place, and we will definitely be back!

This cozy cabin was very nice inside. It was much closer to the road than expected and the little bit of traffic noise was easily heard. Yes, it had an outhouse that was decorated nicely but smelled terrible. A little charcoal for odor absorption would have been nice for this long drop loo. Also, the shower device was not very helpful in taking our bucket shower and this was done in the stinky potty. So, not sure if I smelled clean or like poo after. The mattress was very firm and a bit too firm for my liking. The owner was very quick to respond to all my messages and the cabin itself was quick comfortable but the bathroom and shower situation made me feel like it was quite overpriced due to road noise and smelly potty.

Serenity
It was the best way to escape from busy Duluth traffic and tourists. Waking up to the opera of bird calls and morning sounds made it the best start to each day. The best way to experience the north of Minnesota IMO.

Tiny Shack is undersold!
My son was worried about renting a Tiny Shack. We were abundantly surprised to find so many accommodations: AC, TV (with limited channels), radio, games to play, very nice campfire area, and great appliances. We owned a shack of our own on a nearby lack, so we are used to living rough. The Tiny Shack knocked it out of the park. Our weekend stay included trips to nearby lakes. We caught many fish and had a nice fish fry on Saturday night. We played cribbage, watched a bit of TV, but cancelled bon fire plans due to the bugs. Tiny Shack does have a nice screen house, but we saved that for another time. Will definitely return for more fishing in the future.
