Casa Rubin is a great hotel, and for 3 stars, it certainly is at the higher end of the star. Of course, it isn't a four star hotel, so scratch those thoughts of perfection. The place is still surrounded by renovation, but that does not affect the rooms, the restaurant. There's also no noise affecting rest despite just near the main road.
My Wife and I visited Dumaguete to springboard to Majuyod Sandbar and Apo Island. This place is situated near the Ceres Bus Terminal and Robinson Shoping mall. These things make it easy for Budget Travellers to get around or even find small conveniences like food and necessities. Tip; nearby there's a Mr. Liempo, great Liempo (BBQ Pork Belly). Ceres Bus terminal will allow you to buy Bus tickets to Bias City (to visit Sandbar) and to Malatapay (to visit Apo Island).
The hotel manager is a load of hospitality, he recommended how we could shave of $$ off our Budget tours and also recommended food spots around us. The restaurant also serves great breakfast (love their pancakes and other local crusine).
If you are staying at Dumaguete City and want to go out of Dumaguete, I highly recommend this place. Good to head out, great to go back to for dinner and recharge.
