There was an awful damp smell aroma to the floor and all along the corridor we was staying on. Ground floor. I thought it might be because the laundry room was near to our bedroom. However the bathroom in the room was clean but the damp smell was worse in there.

Noise insulation between the rooms was poor, we could hear snoring from one of the other rooms and when those in the room above moved around the floor boards creaked very loudly and woke us up.

Good breakfast, courteous, helpful staff. The pool area was very good. Our room was too far from reception and too far from the car park. I had two knee replacements and a hip replacement. It was tough negotiating the stairs and the long corridors. I should have requested a room on the ground floor. Was a comfy bed and pillows.

Overall a good place to stay
The location is really good if you are driving into Edinburgh. It has gym and spa (sauna, swimming pool) facilities that you can use. I enjoyed my stay as I was only there to get a good night sleep. The rooms are of good size. The only thing about this place is it lacks maintenance.

Nice older property,lovely site and surrounding areas, beautiful old trees etc. Nice clean rooms and Bathrooms. However, it's kinda tired and needing upgrading, including those forever creaking floor boards.even on the first floor!

Affordable one night break
One night stay in a twin room, hotel is easy to find with free parking. We enjoyed the swimming pool, main reason for booking. Room was a bit tired in places and some dust evident, but beds were comfy and outlook to the garden was good.

Great place I go to get away from things and relax however the sauna and steam rooms where put of order it got fix and another gentleman was in for 5 min and the wood broke so sauna had to be closed again unfortunately these facilities are why I go. No compensation or vouchers which I would have thought to be curtancy as it is part of the services the hotel supposed to offer

Very friendly and helpful staff,good location in beautiful setting. Long trudge to the room on carpet not suited for heavy bags was a bit of a trudge. But hospitality overall was great, especially from the people there. Good room as described and comfy bed made for a nice stay.

The old man of Essex lol
Would like to thank all the staff here eveyone was so helpful. Two staff members stood out, on the night we arrived there was staff shortage due to sickness, I think, But Jenny and Lucy stood out , Jenny was master of all trades reception, bar, waitress and room restocking, sorry about the last one Jenny. Then theres Lucy such a bundle of energy and always an infectious smile, even when guests where moaning about delays she carried on smiling, and then she was there for breakfast still with the smile and fantastic work ethic for such a young girl, And on check thanks to Nicola for being so friendly and helpful Thank you both for our stay Oh and the pool and hot tub was nice after a day out
