This place in my opinion is way over priced. No Aircon. Or fan to cool the room. No safe. No fridge, No place to put your clothes.the shower was either to hot or cold..ie cold. You could hear the people in the up stairs room moving about. There are NO staff to ask questions. I did have one issues and called the staff,they turned up after 15 minutes and sorted the issue out. At the price they charge there should be better facilities and staff.

Quiet haven needing some maintenance.
A lovely haven to put your head on a pillow after an exhausting day around Edinburgh. The towel rail is unreachable. The lights for the bedside didn’t work. It was quiet which was fantastic. Great location.

Noisy street, curtains don’t block out the light, no A/C or fan for hot summer nights when room has heated up in afternoon sun. Cold showers and no response from owner when contacted regarding the cold showers. Nice location. But overall would not stay here or recommend.

Fairly comfortable stay at Alison House. A couple of things I would suggest is to have a ‘Do Not Disturb’ door sign for those who do not with to have house keeping at the crack of dawn. Also for those that like to get ready in front of a mirror, there is no dressing table which made things awkward. Cleanliness was okay. On our last morning we were rudely awoken by some very loud and inconsiderate guests. We didn’t require any help during our stay however there was nobody in person to ask for help other than a ring doorbell. The surrounding area is nice and out the way of the hustle and bustle of the city. Parking should be more explained on the advertisement as there’s only room for 3 cars really.

Eternally grateful for ground floor room with view to rear of property. There must have been a good reason why the shower was controlled with a screw where the lever would normally be.

This was our second visit to Allison House. Room 7 faces the street. Very loud with all the traffic throughout entire evening. Windows were drafty and it was a windy night. I would not recommend this room.

Very good hotel, easy to get to and only 30 mins away from the city when walking. There are busses to easily get you directly into the city too. I was near the front of the road and had no issue with the traffic during the night. The only downsides would be that the WiFi was a bit bad and it would be nice to have an outside lock on the private bathroom so I could leave all bathroom items in without worry of people using them.
