This is a great place to stay in old town. The staff were very professional and friendly. It’s a great location but best not to have a car because there’s no place to park excellent public transportation.

We booked this hotel because it looked like a funky, unique place right in the heart of the tourist area of Ediburgh. The location was spectacular, but the hotel was a disappointment. The room we booked was one of the largest options they offer, but it was tiny. I don't mean the usual "Americans surprised by size of European hotel rooms" tiny - I mean objectively tiny. It was so small, the only place we could open our suitcases fully was on the bed. Unfortunately, because the floors were so filthy, that made the bed dirty. We booked for one night, but then decided to add a second night before checking in - big mistake. We were stuck here for two nights and were very disappointed. The promised "comic book wallpaper" had been painted over (poorly because it was scratched off in places). The wall map with fun magnets to plan your trip in your room was there, but there were no magnets. Also, we had wifi on our first night, but it was completely out for the rest of our stay. We asked to borrow one of their chromecasts, but they were never available (wouldn't have been able to use it without wifi anyway, I guess). The hotel was a maze - getting to the room was like a Willy Wonka fever dream. The only positive is the location - that is stellar, but it doesn't make up for all the downsides - especially at this price point. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. (Unless you're a wealthy teenager who is there to drink and party all night and can pass out anywhere.)

The Grassmarket Hotel was convenient, clean and the staff were super helpful. They stored my luggage for me, as I arrived mid-morning. My room was small, but the bathroom was a great size and quite comfortable. I had no problems getting my luggage up to my room and there was no noise from the pub below. It was very convenient to the Royal Mile, the Castle, Holyrood, terrific restaurants, and everything else I wanted to see. As a woman who was traveling solo, I felt safe and absolutely enjoyed my stay!

Loved the location near the Edinburgh castle and the Royal Mile. Surrounded by historic sites, good restaurants and shopping. Our room was on the first floor above the bar that had loud music every night until 1am. Recommend a room on the upper floors if you go to bed early.

Outstanding location near Royal Mile (restaurants and sites). Although 4 story hotel, only half the rooms had elevator beyond 1st floor. If back to Edinburgh I’d stay again

Busy area on the Royal Mile - excellent one night stay after a 3-day Highlands tour. Staff was extra helpful. We left a phone in a taxi and they helped us get in touch with the cab company and driver 🙏.

Great location and very good staff. “Cosy” room, but newly remodeled bathroom. One quirk - all rooms are not located on floors serviced by elevators, so some amount of trekking and climbing flights of stairs may be required; bear this in mind if you arrive with heavy suitcases or bulky golf club bags. Otherwise quite pleasant.

Excellent location opening right onto Grassmarket Square and easy access to all the attractions. Staff were wonderful, rooms were clean and modern. For a tourist, this is a great hotel to stay in (although no parking!). Would highly recommend!

The most comfortable beds! Wow...makes it hard to get up in the morning! Could well do with a much better door on the bathroom...one that seals the room. Privacy in the privy was very much compromised by the glass door.
