I can’t fault the location and service, located in the heart of l’eixample. The rooms are of decent quality but are starting to look dated. Our room had a musty smell.

This is overall a nice property but failed in terms of customer service, particularly Stan the front desk guy. I couldn’t believe how rude he was given the amount I was paying. Also the facilites while stylish and nice could use a refresh- imagine ikea furniture that looks good but starts falling apart after a few years. A lot of scratches on mirrored furniture, hardware half screwed in, etc. Also they sent a very alarming email threatening to cancel my reservation if I hadn’t paid in advance for the room even though: 1) the reservation through Expedia clearly said “pay at the hotel” 2) no link was sent to me to pay via email though they said “if you don’t pay through the payment link sent to you through email your reservation will be cancelled. 3) it turns out my card had already been charged in full for the reservation. When I pointed out that this whole email created unnecessary panic for someone who is about to board an international flight without WiFi service — to think the reservation you made a month ago might be canceled when you arrive in the destination city — “Stan” replied super rudely and condescendingly. I would not stay here nor recommend sraying here to others.

This hotel markets itself as 4-stars all over the hotel and internet, and frankly, I do not understand how it has such good reviews. Firstly, the walking spaces are tight between the elevators and rooms. The doors are like secret doors, making it very confusing when we first arrived. Our room was extremely small, no closet or bureaus for our clothes, just a clothing rack and high shelf that's more for decor. You need to keep your key card in a slot by the door for the lights to work. Then, the night stands have 4 buttons that made no sense in turning on certain/all lights, so frustrating. The button outside the bathroom did nothing, there was no way to just turn on the bathroom lights. Our balcony was enclosed, so you would have to go entirely outside to smoke a cigarette, and it was also shared with the neighboring room - awkward. The "pool" is half the size of a backyard koi pond. There is a 2 Michelin Star restaurant in the hotel we were looking forward to try, but were deterred because of the hotel. The drinks and food on the rooftop were super overpriced, you're better off grabbing anything nearby. Europe is big on putting double beds together, I found myself falling in that crevice just about every night, but the beds and pillows are comfortable. Pros: Nice view on the rooftop, friendly reception/staff, clean, good location. Overall, I just cannot justify spending almost $200 for a night here.

I liked the overall vibe - it felt upscale and modern. It was walkable to Casa Battlo and neighborhood was good. The bed was comfortable but the room had a bit of a funky odor and the walls are thin. we came off a redeye flight and hadn't slept, so tried to nap but could hear everything from the loud neighbors next door as though they were right in our room. I imagine this could happen anywhere though. All in all, I would consider returning but my husband would prefer to stay elsewhere next time..
