Nestled in the pristine Carson National Forest, this charming home provides solace and comfort. On upper level you'll find the bedrooms, living room, and a deck nestled in the pinon trees. There beautiful hardwood floors and a rustic bohemian vibe with original artwork.
The lower level contains a full kitchen ( minus an oven ), dining room and art studio/makerspace.

The home boasts two adjacent bedrooms, each with exceptionally comfortable beds and a plethora of storage. Two twin beds, one queen Bed (sleeps 2). Just a heads up; The bedrooms are connected and require the back room guests to pass through the main bedroom to access the bathroom.
The warm living room is furnished with two couches, two round seats, one bench and a coffee table. Guests can also relax on the large deck while taking in the local nature, wildlife, and regional folklore. The deck has two daybeds and a small grill.

From the top of the property, hike through the Lord of the Rings influenced gate directly into the Carson National Forest.

Fresh forests winds breeze through the open windows of the main level of the house, through which gorgeous views of the sunrise can be seen on early mornings. Family and friends can enjoy evenings sitting around the firepit, and on clear nights look skyward for plentiful star gazing.


This home is located near the El Rito entrance to the Carson National Forest, 15 minutes from the Georgia O’Keefe museum, and an hour North of Sante Fe and Taos. 20 minutes to Ojo Caliente. No air conditioning is provided, as the cool forest air and fans provide a comfortable temperature in the summer. The gated property sleeps 4 (possibly 5 if needed) . No children under 13 for liability reasons. Be mindful of the weather. In snowy months you MUST have 4 wheel drive- the driveway is steep.

The bedrooms & Living Room and one bath are Upstairs. The kitchen, art studio/dining room and one bath are down stairs (not wheelchair accessible)

Peaceful getaway

As other reviewers have mentioned, the layout of the house is quirky and it has a very boho vibe. It was fine for us for a couple of days - we booked just so we could go to Ghost Ranch and Plaza Blanca - but I don't think the space is conducive to long stays. That said, the area is pretty and the neighborhood is quiet.

We used the house, studio as a base from which to explore the area. The place was big for two people, but I'd definitely do it again. For all its room, it was very comfortable. The weather was perfect during our stay, warm days and cool, even cold evenings.

This property was located in a great location close to thousands of acres of public land and mountains. The house was equipped with everything that was needed for a short stay and all the furnishings were comfortable. Owner communication was almost instant. This house is not for those with mobility issues—lots of steps and different levels, but we enjoyed our stay. Very clean. Second bedroom requires walking through the first to the bathroom. This delightfully bohemian place was furnished and equipped as if to serve guests who are snowed in for a week and need all the creature comforts. Downstairs had an impressively large table fit for a banquet, surrounded by eclectic artwork. The upstairs -- with lots of windows for ventilation -- invited deep lounging (velvet couches?). We came here during a summer heat wave, but had we come in winter we would have kept warm by firing up the oversized wood stove. The absolute high point was the spacious raised deck overhung by junipers but still allowing for stargazing -- literally at the boundary with Carson National Forest. A walk into the woods begins about twenty-five feet from that deck. The owner was welcoming and helpful. My only regret is not having spent more time with the resident dogs!

Our stay was so nice! The home was super clean and comfortable, and Copper was welcoming. The stairs are a little steep and tricky for two 76 year old women, though. There are a couple of places where steps could have been marked better to avoid falls. The upstairs balcony was lovely for happy hour, but I would recommend bug spray. The only thing I didn't see on the ad was that the bedroom with 2 twin beds is attached to the main bedroom, so the person staying in the twin bedroom had to go through the main bedroom to access the bathroom. If I'd known that, it might have been a deal breaker. Also, at this time of year, no air conditioning made sleeping uncomfortable upstairs. We did know that when we booked, and there were lots of fans that helped a lot. Overall, our stay was really good.
