When we first arrived, we were a bit dismayed. The place looks like a complete building site from the outside, because it is! However, once you go down the steps and into the main part of the grounds it’s quite quaint with a great view. Try not to be put off by first sight! The actual room was very quiet, peaceful and clean. It had a mosquito net and a very strong fan. It also had a really nice Veranda where you can sit and watch the thunderstorms over the mountains. There is a weird bathroom set up with a glass screen between the bed and the bathroom, I’m not quite sure who decided on that architectural choice. The Sri Lankan breakfast we had was delicious. One minor issue is that the staff at the hotel, as nice as they were, kept trying to sell us taxi rides to places, even though we just want to relax and chill and not go anywhere, that was a bit offputting
Important information: there is a very quick shortcut into town. When you arrive in a taxi you follow a very winding road and it will take a long time to get to the hotel. However, if you’re walking on foot just follow the road until you reach the railway tracks, then walk along the railway tracks for about two minutes. After the cutting, you’ll see a rough track leading down to the right if you walk down this track you come out on the main road in Ella it really does shave off about a 25 minute hot sweaty walk.
