Escalante Escapes Barrel Cactus, Tiny Home

Summary:
Beautiful inside and out! Escalante Escapes Barrel Cactus tiny home offers you luxury and the chance to truly feel like you've escaped from it all. This modern loft escape is located just minutes away from Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and some of the most scenic hiking in the world. It's ideal for couples, families and groups of friends.

The Space:
Tiny, but full of amenities! Barrel Cactus Loft Escape is our original tiny house model. It sits at the top of the hill and looks out across the property, surrounding mountains and beautiful canyons. This is our largest home at 570 square feet, with 400 square feet on the main level. The 12' ceiling and open loft add an additional 170 square feet and a feeling of openness.

The master bedroom features a queen bed, a flat screen Smart TV, a small desktop workspace that's convenient for working on a laptop or getting ready for the day, a place to hang clothes, additional storage space under the bed for luggage, and a thermostat for individual climate control.

The loft area is open to the kitchen and living room and has two XL (extra long) twin beds. This is a great space to play games, store extra gear, or just stretch out and relax. The ceiling height is just under 5 feet, so you big kids don't plan on running around up there.

The kitchen and living room feature an open floor plan with a sliding glass door that opens to the deck, where you can sit and take in the incredible views. The living room has a queen-sized sofa sleeper, two lounging chairs, a hand-crafted coffee table with extra bedding storage, and large Smart TV. The kitchen is well stocked with kitchen essentials, beautiful stainless steel appliances, a convection microwave oven for cooking and baking, a stovetop, a large refrigerator, a Keurig coffee machine, granite countertops, farmhouse sink, dishwasher and a table/prep island with seating for four.

The bathroom has a large glass shower, sink, toilet, hair dryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap.

Deck and exterior features include a propane BBQ grill, four large Adirondack lounge chairs, private fire pit, astounding views and breathtaking star gazing.

Each unit also has a small washer/dryer.

Guest Access:
You'll have full access to your tiny home. A code for the keypad will be sent prior to your stay.

The Neighborhood:
Escalante Escapes is new tiny home neighborhood located in Escalante, Utah, with 9 homes. You'll be within walking distance of dining, shopping, etc., in this small town. You'll have easy access to both scenic drives and hikes. Escalante has lots of restaurant options- Nemos, Escalante Outfitters, Big Bubbas, Chihuahua Garcia Mexican Grill are some local favorites.

What Makes The Grand Staircase Escalante Unique? The Grand Staircase Escalante is remote and less explored than all other national parks and monuments in Southern Utah. It offers some of the most breathtaking views of the state's colorful sandstone cliffs and narrow slot canyons. Escalante is also well known for its prehistoric rock formations and decades-old abandoned movie sets.

Getting Around:
Just 10 minutes from the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Here in southern Utah a vehicle is required to get around in town and beyond. We recommend a 4WD vehicle with high clearance if you intend to go off-road to out of the way places. Need a 4x4 vehicle? Amazing stay
This place saved us. We were not able to stay at a previously planned location, therefore, we booked this last minute. It was very clean, updated, and more than met out needs.

Tiny Home Treat
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this small tiny home community! Our home was so well made, clean, beautifully decorated, and the finishings were top notch! We had one that had a loft bedroom upstairs in addition to the master on the main level. It felt so spacious and open! The house had everything you could need - we were very impressed! We particularly loved the fire pit and mountain views! We only used the downstairs bedroom since it was just my husband and I and the bed was spacious and extremely comfortable. They utilized every inch of the place so well - you have room to store luggage and to hang items. We also loved the town of Escalante. Small, eclectic, had a few restaurants, a good sized grocery store. Our favorite was Escalante Outfitters - we had their pizza (they have other offerings) plus wine and local beers the first night, and we went back the next morning before our hike to find they were serving a breakfast buffet that was fantastic (they don't always offer breakfast so we got lucky) with the owner's personal recipes. We sat out on the patio and listened to a local artist play an instrument we'd never seen before. Very serene. There are a few other restaurants, but we did not get to try them since we only had one night there. The resort manager was very quick to respond to any questions and eager to help. Wish we had been able to stay longer! I cannot recommend these tiny homes more and would love to stay again!

Tiny. Cute. Dangerous.
PROS 1. Cute, stylishly decorated 2. Clean and tidy 3. The fire pit was fun! We made s'mores. 4. Located 3 blocks from shops/ restaurants in Escalante CONS 1. Sleeping loft ceiling is VERY low. Even my kids couldn't stand up. We all had to crawl around on hands & knees. Because the ceiling is so low, you have to go down the stairs in an awkward crouch. Which leads to... 2. Dangerous stairs: The stairs to the loft are dangerous - steep, narrow with slick soft carpet. I slipped and fell all the way down the stairs and seriously hurt myself. I had to go the emergency room (1.5 hours away!) Ruined our trip. 4. Dangerous windows in the loft: The loft is hot and doesn't have its own AC. The loft windows are floor level casement window, with the mattresses right up against them. So if you open the loft windows, you risk that your child could roll out the window! The owners are aware of this: they put a sign on the window explaining this risk (rather than fixing the problem). So you have to choose between sweltering heat or putting your children danger of falling out! 3. There is No. Storage. No closet. No dresser. Nowhere to put your belonging. There's a nook under the bed for storing suitcases, but that's it. There is one pipe in the bedroom that seems to be for hanging things(?), but if you use it, you block both the mirror and the desk. 4. Half the wall switches don't work and the other half only work part of the time. Maybe some sort of electrical problem?

Convenient and fun
I stayed here with my family (spouse and two kids aged 6 and 10) on our way across southern Utah visiting the National Parks. This was a convenient location as far as a mid-point between Bryce Canyon and Capital Reef- a couple hours from both. There wasn’t much nearby as far as I could tell but we had everything with us that we needed (food, etc). My kids absolutely loved the Tiny House and had so much fun sleeping in the loft. I appreciated the cleanliness and convenience of being in a home vs a hotel. Thank you for a great stay!

Marvelous!
A perfectly stocked, perfectly sized tiny cabin home. The two 9 year old girls loved the loft and couldn't get enough of playing up there. The bathroom and shower were spotless. The kitchen was so well stocked. The surroundings were beautiful. What more is there to say?
