Sophie's Stopover - Cozy Renovated Condo Perfect for a Couple, Easy Walk to Groceries, Free Bus

Sophie's Stopover, brought to you by Mountain Vacation Lodging, is an affordable, renovated condo perched just above the Fraser River. It is the perfect place for couples or singles who are looking for something better than a hotel room. This private 1-Bedroom condo includes a kitchen, living room, and full bathroom, and a very convenient location. During the recent renovations (which took place the winter of 2023), the homeowners took what was a studio condo down to the studs, then rebuilt it into the cozy, modern 1 bedroom condo that you see here. They removed the outdated baseboard heating and added radiant electric heat in addition to the electric fireplace. There is a small yet well equipped kitchen with a fridge, small 4 burner electric stove, microwave, toaster, crockpot, etc. There is no dishwasher, so if that's a necessity for your group, this probably isn't the place for you. A great breakfast bar provides one option for dining, but there are also fold out tv tables, if you prefer to dine in front of the tv. Speaking of which, the TV is a high definintion SmartTV, so you can easily stream your favorite content. The bedroom features a Queen size bed and has a nook that is perfect for luggage and clothing storage, as well as getting dressed for your day of adventure. A pocket door separates the bedroom from the living room, for additional privacy. This condo has everything you need, but to top it off, the condo building also has a nice communal area with a large gas fireplace and a laundry room (coin-operated).

Location:
This condo is located just above the Fraser River and the Safeway grocery store. A short walk of about 300 meters will bring you to the Safeway, Bottle Pass Liquors, a local ski shop, and more. Guests who visit in Spring, Summer, or Fall can walk, jog, or stroll along the Fraser River Trail. Bring your fishing rod and try your luck! The free bus picks up and drops off right by this condo as well. This bus stop is served by 4 different bus routes including the black "express" route, with services from the Winter Park Resort base to and from this property, and in the other direction, all the way to Granby. Review routes by google searching for "The Lift Winter Park". This bus stop is called "Safeway @ CR 804". The Fraser Amtrak train station is only 0.7 miles (1.1 kilometers) from the condo, so if you're coming in by train, it is walkable to the condo, but a bus ride or Uber will get you to this condo very quickly. The base of the Winter Park Ski Resort is only 6.5 miles away and of course, has plenty of parking as well as frequent bus service.

Arrival, Access, and Parking:
– Accessing the Property – From the parking lot there is one full flight of stairs, outside the building, to access the unit. There are no stairs within the unit.
– Parking – Parking available for 2 vehicles in the shared outdoor parking lot. Trailers are not allowed per HOA rules. If guests need additional parking options, please contact us for more information.
– 4WD vehicle information
– 4WD/AWD or vehicles with chains may be required to access this property when traveling during snow and winter weather conditions. The property is less than a ¼ mile off of a major highway, US HWY 40, which is regularly plowed.

** Group Sizes, High Occupancy Fees, & Maximum Occupancy - Some properties use a “High Occupancy Fee” to “raise the rate” for larger groups, and are thus able to list a lower nightly rate for smaller groups. Each rental agreement and associated rates are for a specific group size. Guests must enter the correct and maximum group size at the time of booking. The property description is misleading. The 2nd fireplace must have been in the hidden closet. There is no way 3 people can cohabit the space. It is about the same size as a medium hotel room. While it feels like 250 sq ft, it is advertised larger. That said, it is nicely updated. There were a couple wrinkles - really bad water pressure for shower and the locks were difficult.

Unpleasant experience

The ad said “sleeps 3” so we were expecting a sofa bed additionally to the bed, there was only a couch, we asked for extra blankets we were told,“ there’s some in the closet “, no closet in the property. Ran out of toilet paper there was only a partial roll on the holder. After a set of very uncomfortable phone calls we were told to deal with it on our own, to buy blankets and an inflatable mattress and that they’ll refund us for it. That means to spend our Christmas vacation looking for stores that sells these items while the roads are covered with snow, the nearest store in Fraser Colorado is a Safeway which is a grocery store . We are very unhappy and unsatisfied, specialty because our 17 year old daughter had to sleep in the 4’ couch. This place isn’t suitable for a family of 3, but if you still decide to stay here make sure to bring a good white noise machine since you can hear everything the ppl from other units are doing and ppl coming up and down the stairs. Worst experience ever. They ruined our Christmas for being so dishonest.

Perfect spot and cozy place

Had a great stay. It’s in the perfect location to get anywhere. The place was super clean and the property manager got right back to me when I had a question. It was also super quiet at night, which made it even better. I went during the slow season, so maybe it’s a lot crazier in the Winter. Definitely recommend.

Although it was little smaller than we expected, this condo was well-suited to our needs. The property manager, Alexis, was very attentive and helpful to our questions/concerns. I would highly recommend this property.
