Lakefront-Semi Rustic Cabin-8.5 acres. Woods and lake, nature at its finest!

BEAUTIFUL!!! Rustic, Lakefront, Sand bottom Spring Fed Lake. Nice swimming and fishing. Rowboat and canoe provided. Kayaks also available on site.

Picture yourself…relaxing on a glider bench, or on your own private nature trail, at our secluded family estate. Nestled on 8 ½ acres on the North end of Guthrie Lake, enjoy a time away with great fishing, swimming, and other activities. Or choose to just get away from it all at our sheltered retreat with plenty of relaxation.

The sighing of the breeze through the pine and hardwood forest speaks peace to my soul. The sand bottom lake is perfect for wading or swimming, boating, canoeing or kayaking. Beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and lake views. We love this place. It is the home of our hearts, and we are glad to share it with you.

Guthrie Pines, Semi-Rustic 3 bedroom, 1 3/4 bath, 1600 sq. ft.+ lakefront ranch-style home, wooded lake frontage on 8 ½ acres. It's a beautiful spot on the North end of Guthrie Lake. This home has been in our family since it was built in the early 1970's. The Property has been in the family for 4 generations. Located at the original site of "the old cabin" (aka Camp Solitude) a hunting lodge for hunters in the "old days".

Guthrie Pines is within the Guthrie Lakes Enchanted Forests subdivision. We are NOT a part of this subdivision, and as such, we are NOT allowed to have our renters use the subdivision amenities, other than the roads. Please respect the subdivision owners and do not use the parks, boat ramps (the state fishing site is available), clubhouse or other amenities of the Guthrie Lakes Enchanted Forests subdivision. Thanks so much!

Guthrie Pines comfortably sleeps 6-12 (or more). The home features an open floor plan with one king and two queen beds in the three bedrooms, a queen hide-a-bed in the family room, (suitable for kids) and a double sofa-bed on the screened in porch (as well as a 4 other couches, air bed, and foam pads for floor sleepers.)

Natural Pine paneled living room (Paneled with lumber from logs milled from the original Lake Guthrie Forest Reserve by our Dad!). The fireplace, a great feature of the living room (firewood is provided), has a spectacular view of the lake, when you just turn to warm up your back at the fire! Living area also has a large Flat Screen HD TV w/10 local channels plus Roku, PlayStation 2, with games, a Blu-Ray player, and a DVD and CD collection. Family room area has a game/eating table, desk and piano. The "Birch' and "Oak" bedrooms have beautiful handmade log beds. All of the bedrooms have Roku TVs. We have Starlink internet for your use.

Our fully equipped kitchen is ready for easy entertainment. Inside Dining areas can seat up to 24. (Plus 4 tray tables!) Picnic table and multiple outdoor chairs are available outside for those who love it outdoors! Lakefront screened porch, provides gaming/eating space at a round oak table for 8 or more, as well as providing a wonderful location to relax and enjoy the lake (even build a puzzle there if you'd like). Nice lighting on the porch provides a great ambiance for evenings, and a great place to relax. Puzzles and games are available for quiet relaxation. We also have an antique piano available for the music lovers in your group. (Please use with care-no pounding please!).

We clean and disinfect in accordance with current standards for your health and safety. There is plenty of clean fresh air and a breeze off the lake, ahh! Relax here and enjoy nature and it's beauty.

The sandy beach front (depending on the water level in the lake) is ideal for swimming in the crystal clear water. A sand bar (mostly underwater) extends out for over 100 feet for shallow water swimming, perfect for small children. Swimming fun for all ages -some floats provided!

Fishing, for small and large mouth bass, bluegill, perch, and others. Be sure to get your Michigan License and bait!! We have a live box in the lake so you can keep your catch fresh until you are ready to clean it and cook it. Boating, and other water sports are waiting for you at Guthrie Pines. Guthrie Lake is an ALL SPORTS lake. You can launch your boat at the Guthrie Lake Public Fishing Site. (Located about a mile from the house at the Southeast end of the lake-we can send you directions). We also have a great deal with our bundle pricing to rent our 2 kayaks (One is a one-person, one is a two-person). The rowboat and canoe are included with your stay. We have a Youth size stand up Paddle Board and a pedal boat available as well. What a fun way for kids to get good fresh air and exercise, and to see the lake! (It is very reasonable to rent our kayaks by the day or week).

A nature trail winds through the forest on the 8 ½ acre site. Foot trails are marked for easy walking. A hand made oak bench at the fork in the path waits for a great rest with a scenic overlook of Black Bay. Relax on the glider bench that sits overlooking the water's edge with a drink, or enjoy a campfire in the lakeside fire-pit. Play croquet in our challenging lakeside, or woods-side yard course. The set is provided, just set it up and go! We have a nice 40' dock out into the lake for ease in boating and canoeing. NO DIVING PLEASE, it is just too shallow for that! It's so nice to relax on in the lake!

From our cleaning and sanitation crew:
" We at IBKLEAN want to help our guests feel even more comfortable this summer. Time at the lake is for relaxing, not worrying.
We have been cleaning here for many years. In 2020 we began doing things different. The most important things are:
1) All staff will complete the Health Department required CDC paperwork before every clean. No one will work if they are not well.
2) Our staff will wear clean/new gloves, masks, and foot covers for every cleaning job.
We will use new/ clean ( in hottest water possible) cleaning tools for every cleaning job.
3) We will use the recommended 2 step cleaning, then disinfecting process, allowing enough time for the disinfectant to work.
4) All laundry will be washed in the hottest water possible. Baskets will be disinfected regularly.
5) We will maintain a check list of this process
We hope our commitment to everyone’s health and safety helps you feel at home. Thank you and have a wonderful time. "

NO SMOKING ANYWHERE ON THIS PROPERTY. If any evidence of smoking on the property is found, it will result in an additional fee of $250.00. (Fire danger and allergies considered for everyone's safety).

Pets are welcome at Guthrie Pines with some restrictions. Pets will require a $100 pet fee. For the sake of owners and other renters with pet allergies, we request that pets stay outside of the main house, and off the furnishings. (We have a large 10 by 15' Mudroom on The South side entrance from the lake side of the house) where pets are welcome. (If you try to leave the door open from the Mudroom to the House, you invite mice into your living space--please do NOT prop that door open!) Pets are welcome to stay on the porch, but please do not allow them on the furnishings. (SEE PET ADDENDUM) There is 8.5 acres to run on, and explore, and we advise that pets come inside the mudroom for the night. (A skunk would not be a welcome addition to your party, nor would porcupine quills be.) Should you have any questions about this policy, please contact Linda at the contact information given on this site.

Guthrie Pines is just minutes off I-75 at the Waters exit. The property is in close proximity to a "Golfer's paradise" in Gaylord. Guthrie Pines is located in the "Golf Mecca of the Midwest". Golf Digest rated it as one of the top 5 golf destinations in America. Near to several fine golf courses. Boyne Mountain is 75 minutes away, it boasts of indoor water park and also has a world class spa. For more family fun, Mackinac Island is only 1 ½ hour away. You can pick from 3 casinos as close as 40 miles away. Traverse City (which boasts the Cherry Festival in the summer, and a Zoo) and Petoskey are also within a couple of hours drive. Gaylord boasts of the Alpenfest in Mid-July, an Elk herd viewing area (free), a micro-brewery, Olympic training site, and the Call of the Wild Museum. Some of Grayling’s area attractions feature canoe races on the AuSable River, Hartwick Pines State Park, The Fred Bear Museum, and local fish hatcheries. These are in the drawer of the table stand under the TV in the living room. or stop at the Michigan welcome centers on your way and pick up what interests you from their collection of brochures. The Gaylord Chamber of commerce on Main Street has many brochures too.

Grayling also boasts of Camp Grayling National Guard training facility. You may hear planes and/or choppers flying training missions near the lake, as the 'Range' is about a mile away. Sometimes artillery practice is heard, and sometimes we are treated to night sky flares. We are thankful for the training our National Guard receives near here to defend our country. There may be noise from some of the activity, but this training center offers no threat of danger to the lake property's residents. The fish don't mind either, they have heard it all their lives!

North Central State Trail - Bike from Gaylord to Mackinaw City. See the North Central State Trail website for for information.

There is a notebook available at the rental with plenty of information of area attractions and things to do, as well as important information for the renter, such as the wi-fi passwords, and more. This is designed to make your stay the best it can be.

Peaceful Cabin
Loved staying in this "rustic cabin" in the woods. It was truly refreshing and peaceful. Actually found more than we expected here as this sanctuary comes with many years of history and seems to radiate fond memories and good times that have occurred and been created here. Good Vibes.

Family Vacation at its best!
This property was great. They house is a little older but is so beautiful inside. The host has thought of everything that we needed to make our stay the best. She has definitely thought out what one would need to be comfortable. I have stayed at other places that don't even compare. We were here for 4 days and never ran out of anything and had more than we needed. It was a great get-a-way. If you are considering a vacation to a place that is secluded and comfortable, this is it!

Cozy and Private lakefront getaway
This was a lovely place for good old fashioned family fun! The cabin was cozy and had everything we could possibly need! The beds were comfortable and the living and kitchen spaces were perfect for both entertaining and relaxing. The views of the lake were amazing! We spent most of our time on the screened patio overlooking the lake or on the lake! We all had so much fun playing in the lake, swimming and kayaking. The host, Linda, was easy to get a hold of, accommodating to our needs and very friendly to work with! We will most definitely be back again!!

Semi Rustic cottage in the middle of woods
Older cottage, but very spacious and well kept considering its age. Love the history of the cabin and glad the children have preserved it. Nice wooded surroundings with trails and a small beach. Home is located right on the water. Very clear and shallow sand bottom lake. Seems very private even though there are neighbors. Anything you would need is in the cabin and available for your use. We had an amazing time this week. It was very relaxing! We rode bikes, walked, kayaked, read books and just enjoyed our time together. Highly recommend this home if you like a more rustic feel. Linda was easy to work with and very attentive to any questions we had. We would love to make a return visit in the future.

Weekend getaway
We picked up our son at MSU and had a relaxing family weekend getaway. The place was exactly as described. We had a fun time canoeing and paddle boarding. Bathroom and kitchen were both well stocked. We enjoyed the tranquility of the property and the lake We went up to Gaylord to take in the foliage at Aspen park and while up there did dinner at the Alpine Tavern. Fall foliage was great the weekend we were there.

Very Nice Getaway!
Great semi-rustic cottage on a fantastic secluded property. We loved the privacy, the sandy bottom swimming area for the kids, the fire pit, the crystal clear lake, the views, the great fishing, loons, eagles and the cool military planes we had the pleasure of observing here and there. My wife, 2 small boys (6 & 2), in-laws (for a couple of days), our dog and I had plenty of space and everything we needed for the 6 of us. We enjoyed swimming & boating each day and fires each night. We brought our 18 foot boat and launched it at the public launch and left it at the dock all week. Super easy and convenient. Everything went smoothly and was 100% hassel free. We brought our people, our pet and our boat and did nothing but relax for an entire week. We highly recommend Guthrie Pines! Thank you! -Josh, Melita, Fisher & Knox

Great property, nice lake, a little cluttered
We had a great stay with family and friends. The cabin is a little dark, but very cozy. There could be more room for storage as it’s evident that people are living in the property when guests are not staying there. The military exercises during the week all happened during the middle of the day and we’re not as interruptive as other reviews would have us believe. The lake, while the water was a little low was extremely clean and fun to fish and tube. The best part is the large lot and lack of Neighbors. Navigating the twisting driveway with a large boat and trailer was rather difficult but possible. Some work could be done to trim the trees back a bit. Overall, this is the best property that we’ve stayed at in the 10 years that we’ve been picking places in northern Michigan. We had a successful fish fry and so much fun enjoying the view fire pit and wonderful weather.

Cute and cozy cottage on the lake
The cabin was exactly as described, absolutely darling! It’s right on the lake (which is beautiful). We enjoyed all of the amenities of the cottage including the kayaks, peddle boat, grill, fire pit, and fully stocked kitchen. Everything you could think of is available for your use. Just show up with your groceries. And if you forgot something you are about 25 min from a either a Meijer or Walmart in Gaylord. We loved staying at Guthrie Pines and hope to return soon.

Beautiful area, close to fun family activities
We spent three nights at this secluded cabin at the peak of gorgeous fall color. Everything we needed was available at the cabin - neatly labeled kitchen shelves so we could remember where to put things back, a closet of board games for a rainy afternoon, extra blankets (saw our first snowflakes of the season!), and a super-helpful binder full of information. We drove south one day to Grayling and enjoyed shopping and dining downtown, as well as some hiking at Hartwick Pines State Park. The next day we headed north to Gaylord and saw a dozen or so elk at the Elk Park, wandered around in the shopping district, and bought too much chocolate at the Chocolat Haus. We returned to Grayling for a family-friendly escape room experience at Northern Michigan Escape Rooms, and returned to a fantastic little gift shop, Tip'n the Mitten. The cabin was well-positioned for exploring the area, and had plenty to keep us busy while there, as well. We enjoyed looking at the lake, but it was too brisk to use the paddleboat. The host was very thorough and sent helpful information via email to prepare us for the stay.
